Default Mesh Grille Options

So I bought a grille from Adamesh. The choices were stainless or black. I bought stainless.

I photoshopped the grill into my car to see what it would look like. I am thinking that it might be too much silver for my taste and am debating about whether to paint the mesh and leave the bead edge stainless like this current XKR.

Opinions?

Shame you can't move the badge to the middle. It was worth having my stone chips refinished!! They filled the holes at the same time. Mesh Grille Options-image.jpg
But I still want to paint the outer badge frame. Leave the growler chrome.

I agree the silver is 'too silver'. My XKR cams with the stainless steel mesh, but didn't look as silver as yours. I still painted it black, however, a couple of years ago to see how it looked and liked it so much I decided to keep it.

Just an opinion....the full chrome looks like it has a big smile = too much.

How long before someone has this pic up on their 'XKR Grill For Sale' website.

Hehe indeed. Now these pictures have me thinking. I was planning to move the growler to the grill and I think the black looks better than the stainless steel. Thanks a lot! One more project.

The growler came from Adamesh. It's the large plinth style with the new growler. I tried the badge off my car but it looked too thin and stuck on.
I actually popped apart the new badge (the chrome outer J A G U A R ring and the growler face can be detached from the black background) and painted the black background red to match my wheel centers and fender leapers.

I am painting the outer chrome plinth black ASAP!! I want it to look more integrated to the grille.

I know this is all in the eye of the beholder; for me, with a black car, I like the stainless grille and black/chrome heads. With silver, yes, the black grille looks killer; with red I think you can go either way but I would lean to black. I personally like the growler emblem where it is, so nothing detracts from the guppy mouth front Hate that I have to get a front plate here in Colorado even!

I too like the emblem where it is, but think that the style of the emblem looks a bit dated now. So I ordered one that matched the current XF emblem. It is about 1/4 inch larger in diameter than current one.

While I have the bumper off to do the grille I plan to try out the new badge. I already updated the wheel centers to the newer style so the new growler badge should be right I home I think.

Maybe you have to get a front plate, but you don't have to put it on. ;-)

I've been driving around Connecticut for almost two years with my front plate securely stowed in my trunk. So far I haven't been stopped. Connecticut only issued one plate until 1987, but I don't think I can plead ignorance of the law if I get stopped. If the time comes that I do get pulled over, I'm going to tell the cop I just couldn't figure out a way to mount it without destroying the look of the front (which, of course is the truth) and keep my fingers crossed. If he's a car guy, he might just let me off with a warning. Hahahha! I crack me up!

I was ticketed twice on my other car - the Magnum - for not having a plate, both times the vehicle was parked downtown, so my assumption is that if parked in public the good folks who read the parking meters also issue or call in the plate violations. At that time, I looked into some plate brackets that slid out from under the front, but the Jaguar has such little clearance there anyway.

Rothwell-

Hmmm...interesting. I hadn't thought of updating my growlers. So are you saying the current style wheel centers popped right into your older wheels?

It's all a matter of taste but I never really cared for the mesh, no matter what color. Can the overriders be removed and just have the chrome splitter? The overriders just look 'bucky' to me.

I tried the new growlers on my XK8 wheels but they just looked strange to me. I even ordered the red new growlers but again, I didn't like them. Don't mind the new front badge once painted red. I will say, the new growler badge on the nose of the XK8 in its original location won't really work. It is meant to sit in a bezel. I tried it!
I know I'm a juxtaposition of terms, but I moved my badge to my grille so I could try out a leaper. (Oh god, no blasting about the leaper!!) but the XK8 looks right with the older wheel centers!!

Perhaps it has something to do with the wheel color. I think they look better than the original ones on my style of wheel. Also the Adamesh lug nuts in this pic.
