Default Mina Exhaust Tips

The Mina exhaust system has 3 choices of tips available. I'd like to see what they look like installed on an XK8/R. Their website does not help very much with this. I'm particularly interested in seeing the difference between the oval and round tips. If anyone has pictures of your car with these, I'd really appreciate seeing them.

Thanks -

Oval, definitely. I've seen the round tips on XJ8s, they look good. I've seen them on the XKR, and it doesn't 'fit' the car, IMO. I don't have the Mina tips you describe, but here's a pic of my oval ones from another manufacturer.

Thanks, Matt. Those are definately sweet! The Mina ovals are wider and flatter, and I don't like them as much as I do yours. They almost seem too big. This is the picture Mina shows on their site:

By the way, my wife attended Texas Tech for one year. Couldn't handle the duststorms, so she went off to another small school as you can see by this picture of her XJ8L:

Here are the Mina ovals on my car. I think they look a lot better at a normal viewing angle than from under the car as in the Mina Gallery photo.

Thanks a ton. You are right - - - the viewing angle makes a lot of difference. I'd still like to see how the round ones look, but I'd be pretty happy with what you have there.

All the best,

Hey, she still roots for Tech, except for maybe one game each year.

Bah! Longhorns fans! Just wait until Saturday when the come into Lincoln and lose badly to my Cornhuskers.

Back to the topic: Here are my tips. I did a full custom system and found some nice tips from Magnaflow (I didn't like their mufflers, but their tips look great) This picture doesn't do them that much justice, but this is what round tips can look like:

I think round tips work better on earlier cars and oval seem to work a little better on later cars. The space between the bumper cover and the tips appears pretty even to me.

Kieth:
So, at the time, I resisted the urge to comment on the fact that your above noted prediction did not come to pass. Y'see, my wife may be a Longhorn, but I'm not, so it wasn't all that important to me.

I am, however, a Washington Husky, and there was that little Holiday Bowl thing . . .

Next year should be interesting, and I think it's at your house. Too bad we're loosing Jake Locker.

Cheers,

Well, if we had bothered to actually show up for the game, things would have been different. After holding Locker to 4-20 and 2 INT in a 56-21 beatdown at Washington the first time, we were a little upset we were put in such a low bowl playing UW again and forgot to play.

Should be fun next year and yes it is in Lincoln. Sarkesian has done a pretty great job turning the program around for the Huskies so I'm glad the series isn't completely one sided like I thought it would be when it was announced. I also love UW's recent dominance over USC

I don't know if you get to any college football games, but Lincoln is one place every college football fan should visit on game day. I was close to going to Seattle last year for the game, but the timing didn't quite work and I was still trying to get tickets to the Texas game. I love College football and when I was in school I had season tickets. Now I try to make it to a game a year if I can (usually away games because home games are expensive since we've sold out every game since 1962 [an ongoing NCAA record I might add]). I'm planning Minnesota this fall (since the Gophers never sell all their tickets and I'm about equal distance there as I am to Lincoln, plus I want to see the new stadium). I'm also planning Miami in 2015 since my brother works with some boosters and can get us cheap/free tickets.

I've taken this thread a bit off topic, but I love talking a little college football

Red face H2O Boy's Tips

"I like your tips" wow that could be taken the wrong way! So where did you get them, or what brand are they..if you don't mind divulging. I think they are just right, and my 2000 rear valance cutouts are smaller than yours so they are about as big as I'd like to go.

First order of business: At least we agree on one thing.

I have two favorite teams: UW and anyone who is playing USC.

Back to Exhaust Tips - - - I am looking at the Ractive T815. Anyone have experience with them? I have seen them advertised as both 6" wide and 4.5" wide. The proportions in the pictures (below) seem to support closer to 6" wide and 3" high. I haven't looked for them locally, so I haven't actually gotten my hands on them, but they look like a possibility. They are a 2.25" inlet.

Yeah, I don't know either. I might just try to do some creative Photoshop work and see what turns out.

Considering the depth and width I would be more worried about rubbing on the trunk floor.

I had a customer who bought some 3" quads, they looked OK, not badly made considering how cheap they were, but there was no way the were going to fit and clear the floor!!!

Hello Larry, here is a 2001 XKR with the Mina oval tips. Tried to give you different angles. My preference are these they fill the area but not overloaded, I also like the S/S mesh inserts. Dimensions 4 ½" wide 3 ½" tall and 5 ½" front to back

Thanks, vettegood. Turns out I didn't go with the Mina exhaust. Here are the tips I ended up with:

They are made by Jones and are what they call their “Escalade” style because they are fashioned after the early 1990’s Escalade and Denali tips. What I liked was that in addition to being angled up-and-down, they are also angled side-to-side. They are 6.25” x 3.75” ovals, which fill the larger cutout on a 2006 nicely.

Cheers,

sorry for the delay magnet, just now saw you question. I'll track down my thread that has the make/model in it tonight-laterish.
