you can get all 8 brand new for like $70 bucks like I did.
You just need the correct AFTERMARKET PART NUMBER, and PERHAPS ANOTHER VEHICLE-Like Ford, Toyota, your parts are used on that more common than a jaguar, to find the aftermarket part number.

Yipeeee am just praying when I collect tomorrow it will fly along highway back home.
Will post tomorrow night? ?
The parts seem a hell of lot cheaper over the pond compared to Uk
Some coils are cheap on Ebay I know but have gone for £30 each total replacement coils fitted £300 that garage charges and our20% rip off vat tax!
Not bad for an indy Jag garage
For any southern Uk owners I recommend
Jagcare Portsmouth
Ask for Jon tell him Kevy sent you
You wont be disappointed.

Well well well, I picked her up today and drove the 30 odd miles home and it was like driving a new car!
Just like driving a car with 64k should be like, It was like floating on air and the acceleration much improved! my license wont be clean for too much longer!!!
Thanks to everyone on here who helped and advised me, next she needs front bushes doing as a bit clonky over rough roads!
Will post a photo soon

There you go...great news. Spares me making an humbling apology or eating my hat too.
aode6 is spot on - coils need replacing every 60k or so or 10 years. Unfortunately they are a service item. I would suggest they are the most common cause of a Jaguar misfire.
Next time I have one go - I will replace them all.

I thought I had it fixed
OK, so my XKR ran perfect since this last post...Then, last weekend I got the "Restricted Performance" message and two orange lights.
Eventually all cleared up but the check engine light. So I checked it. Cylinder 3, ignition coil misfire.
In summary, the fuel filter and spark plug change fixed a small misfire that regularily occured. However, I have since had a coild go bad as well.
Should have just changed those darn coils when I had the plugs out!

Hi,
I recently had some maintenance work done that made me think of this thread.
My 2000 XKR also had a misfire under heavy acceleration. I had all the basics checked out at the shop- fuel pressure checked, spark plugs changed, fuel filter changed, compression test on all 8 cylinders.
My fuel pressure was great. Compression was very good and within specifications. and upon having the spark plugs and the fuel filter changed my misfire is gone. Smooth, linear acceleration. I could almost notice the improvement immediately upon starting the car- and I never even thought it ran rough before.

also, bad vale cover spark plug o ring seals will allow oil and vapor into the coil valley. This will cause a misfire, the valve cover and spark plug o -ring gaskets will have to be replaced, and the boots off the coils removed and the spring and boots scrubbed and cleaned with electrical contact cleaner
