Question Motorola 8700 Factory phone

Hi

I am trying to get the phone to work and hope some of you have experience.

The Phone works outside the car, coonects to network and can receive and make calls.

In the car you get sound, so pressing a button on the phone will sound in the stereo. but none of the buttons are functional, it says handset in the stereo display, if I turn on the radio and press the phone button it shortly shows phone and then goes to handset.

what is it I am missing here?

It seems to be stuck in handset mode, can it be the switch in the craddle? or is it a setting in the phone

Is it a Jaguar-branded 8700 (Jaguar motif on the inside of the flip, or LNC7311AB under the battery)?

There should be a setting in the phone. Have you got Jaguar's manual for the phone? If not, here is the link.

You might also need to find Motorola's manual for the phone itself.

However, apart from the novelty value, I remember those phones as being crap - a bluetooth upgrade to work with your own phone is way better.

Yes, but cannot find anyone making a bluetooth integration that works with steering/radio buttons and display on radio.. I want to keep all original and functional. I will check the manual, have both, but settings seems to be ok

There should be a magnetic strip underneath, and attached to, the cradle close to where the connector plugs in at the base of the phone.

You could try moving a magnet around the plug area to see if that switches the phone's mode.
