I posted a question in the wrong cubby hole last night so here's a try at the right place. My kitty-car is a 1997 XK8 with the 4.0 litre engine. She needs a new purge valve which is part of the gas tank vapor recycling system. I cannot find one anywhere. The closest is a back order on top of a back order at a Range Rover shop. A previous poster recommended Rimmer Bros, SNG Barratt, and Welsh Enterprises. My mechanic wizard is now tracing those down. Are there any other place I should look? Many thanks.

Sorry I do not know what code was thrown as my mechanic did not share that information. But the tip to check out Jaguar Palm Beach Florida parts may have been a valuable tip but as everyone has been closed due to the holiday I won't know until later this week. Anyway thanks for the tips. Maybe the FERLCAT only used up one of her lives on this incident.

Confirmed that the displayed code is indeed the purge valve so the search is on for a new part. Palm Beach Florida does not have one. Drat!. Found one in Vancouver BC so that is now the focus of trying to import it. We are not far from the Canadian border, but the import rules are inflexible. The used valve in Northern CA is "on deck" in case the BC part cannot be accessed. Tricky business this. Stay tuned.

If your car has the CEL (check engine light) illuminated there most has to be a code stores that is directly related to the CEL. If that number (Pxxxx) is given, there is a good possibility that folks here can tell ya what ya need, where to get it and the process for fixing it... and what NOT to allow with your mechanic... A new purge valve is now in hand from Canada and will be installed next week. But my car continues to also report Stability Control Fault displays which ties to the ABS Control Module failure (ABS c-1155 left front speed sensor. But this sensor has been replaced more than once and the control module itself is suspect.) This has been a chronic failure for the past 5 years and no amount of re-soldering or tinkering with the present module has resulted in a long term fix. The brakes are fine but the ABS function is likely disabled. So I have given up on patches and fixes.
This week I came across a flyer from JagBits of Goleta, CA which claims that they can "rebuild" the module for $500 with a one week turnaround. Has anyone used their service with good effect?
