Mudflaps?

Al;
I need to get some 'mud flaps' like that.
Heater seems to be working fine too.
You didn't tell us you had the turquoise blue interior on Frosty.
Is that an OEM roll bar in the back seat?
Contradiction in terms that it makes it harder to 'roll around' back there isn't it?
No wonder you bought this car with that seat cover.
I bet the cover costs more than the car.
I actually once traded seat covers for a car, but they weren't as nice as this one.
You really would need a 'stick shift' with that kind of seat cover.
cheers,
jj

Yes they are dirty and salt covered, but they are black... honest!!
Your comment has driven me to ensure I wash them today!!!!
In the spring i'll use some back to black external trim restorer on them. This also works a treat on the black bit behind the strake on an 8.
regards

Smoggy;
Sorry and no worries, they are doing their job.
Al;
How are you going to get your girlfriend and this new one in there with the roll bar....talk about 'cat fights'. Yikes!
That's not hopeful, that's suicidal!
Anyone know of any smaller mud flags than OEM that work?
The XF flaps look a lot smaller and somewhat more attractive if you can really say that about mud flaps.
cheers,
jj

I have removed dozens of mud flaps from XK8s and Rs, there is no difference...... If anybody asks me what XK to buy, I always say try to buy one that has mud flaps, your sills wont rot away in years to come!
I use to have a few sets laying about, only got one set left which I am putting on a XK I am about to sell,
I like them

Thanks as always XK.
That's funny about your buying advice.
Anyone on this forum dare to call Racer out about mudflaps??
I didn't think so.
All the talk about rust etc...made me inspect mine for rust...so far nothing detectable re your suggestion earlier....but who the heck designed a body/fender join directly behind the front wheels with a cupped ledge to hold water????
What were they thinking?
Racer have you seen any variations on Mud Flaps....I want them to work but I wouldn't mind if they were a little smaller.....
cheers,
jj

A "law for mudflaps" you gotta be Shhh........ting me
Thats news to me...... To my knowledge mudflaps were an option that was negoatiated at the origial buying stage.... You either wanted tham or you didn't.... XKs that have them will not suffer from grit blasting and rust on the front of the sill edge as it is obviously protected..
There are no other types, the OE are moulded to fit and look the best IMO anything else would have to be after market and probably a universal fit.
The only other added rubber addition was the wheel arch spats which were fitted to XKs with 20" wheels, this was done to stop road rash creeping up the rear quarter

I have the rear Spats...and have always wondered if they would work for the front wheels as well.
Will get on the order...I am sure I won't notice them at all once they are installed because it was just yesterday after all of this discussion that I noticed our V70R has them front and back.
The Land Rover has three mudflaps....talk about rust, holy cow...one entire wheel arch is gone in the passenger compartment.
Nope not the arch with the missing mudflap.
Now I will have to look at the MINI. haha.
Thanks and cheers,
jj

Indeed I do have PayPal....... Takes 5 minutes to fit, no ramp needed, the hardest job will be taking out the screw in the bottom of the wheel arch liner, look above where your sill meets the front and just inside you will see a torx bolt, this is where the mudflaps bolt in, at the top is a nice stainless clip, the mudflap has a nice extra piece of rubber which goes under the clip so does not rub against metal work!!!
Once I am happy I have got everythig I will send you a PM
