Keith
Press charges. Do not let the clown off. I've prosecuted two thieves in the last three years both neighbors of my business One stole the camera's off my building and was filmed doing it. The other stole my power washer when I went back to get the water hose. ( He also was on camera. ) One got three years in the state pen, He refused to admit it was him in the camera. The other never had a record so he got fined. Both wanted me to drop charges. I wouldn't do it.
Hammer Him.

Keith--

I was speechless reading this thread. I'm so glad you at least know who the perp is. I would agree with the others who are encouraging you to press charges on this person -- but as you are: carefully and deliberately, working with law enforcement, your company and your lawyer to ensure your success.

Presumably this person is an adult, capable of making rational decisions of how to handle jealousy, conflict or whatever may have motivated this attack on your property. It is an act of violence, vengeance or jealousy, plain and simple. So he/she should be treated as an adult and pay the price of their crime.

Live well. It is the greatest revenge--The Talmud.

Too bad the perp was so small-minded as to not heed the wisdom of the Talmud.

I wish you the very best success.

It would be nice to see the culprit get caught on camera.

congrats Keith, that must be a bit of a relief.

I agree with the others, press charges. If your employer doesn't terminate him right away then it might be worth driving your winter beater to work (I think you have one) while the situation resolves.

The person responisble was immediately terminated, and the police are moving forward with charges. Hopefully I'll be able to tell the rest of the story next week. There are a few things I'd love to be able to say, but it's probably best I wait for now.

Of course. What employer would want to have an employee that would do such as thing?

This is really karmic justice. At one point in time, there you are feeling like s**t when seeing the key job while at the same time the other guy is gloating. Now that same guy has to be feeling like a total moron after having been snagged for his instant of pleasure--sweet!

Hey, Keith, that's great news! They must catch these guys like once every 1000 keyings, so you got real lucky

I guess this is an American English expression for being dismissed from the company, but I had visions of some kind of Terminator character coming out of the undergrowth and executing the guy

Default Damage

I reed the replys listed and still like to know, they keep saying "The guy that did it", I wonder because, "keying" is not usually a "guy" thing to do, it's usually a girl thing. We don't do that kind of stuff. If that is a guy that did it, he may have some inner Fem. chromezones. I know it's hard to say and not really possible, but maybe if he gets sent to county lockup, the other Inmates will Test out those Fem. Chromezones of his, ALL NIGHT.

I have two x chromosomes in addition to my y chromosome. I have yet to key anything. At least 3/4 of my friends are female and none of them have keyed anything. Every act of vandalism I've encountered has been a guy. Although, the feminist that I am(don't worry, I'm not second wave womyn power, reclaim history as herstory kind of feminist), nothing states it has to be male or female to do this act.

OP - I'm glad you've gotten the satisfaction you've gotten so far. Hopefully you get restitution and the guy gets a record out of it.

Whenever I see a car that has been keyed the image that first comes to my mind is maybe some slimy guy in his late teens or early to mid-20s.

This is why I have full coverage with very low deductibles for vandalism.

Would you believe it was a 50+ year old woman? That is all I can say right now.

Yikes!!! Not what I would have expected at all. You must have taken her favorite space or something

Keith, one good thing came from your problem....it has made me take a better look of my surroundings when I park my Jag. I also look on the roofs of the buildings for cameras. Sorry it happened to you, but thanks for opening my eyes. Jack

Well Keith, I guess she is not your MILF!! None of us know why she did it and probably will never know, but being terminated in today's economy will teach her a good lesson in proper adult behavior.

Congrats! Your patience and diligence is paying off. Your company's or your own insurance should cover the paint work.
