Default My coolant gauge rises naturally as engine warms- do I already have RealGauge?

Just dawned on me today and got curious if one of the last owners already did this mod... especially because one of them was the manager of an indy Jag shop and was probably aware of the design flaw.

But the oil gauge hits 50% a little too perfectly on startup though, so I imagine it doesn't.

The car indicates temperature accurately from 125F (bottom of scale) to 185F (center of scale) as it comes from the factory.

The problem is it sits at center scale from 185F to about 230F and then jumps to the red zone within about 3-4 degrees. This is what RealGauge addresses.

Best purchase you can make for the Jag. I have the oil gauge mod, also.

Be sure to tell whoever you take the car to for service that you have installed it... I forgot to, which caused a big of confusion.

Who do you go to Charlie?

I try and do my own work but if I'm away and SWMBO has a problem it's good to have a recommendation.

Great point to let whomever services the car know about this. I forgot to tell the dealer when I had them replace the aux water pump and some hoses, and the tech was very concerned about the reading, thinking the car was overheating... I explained the real gauge, and the asked if he checked the temp with an OBD reader, he said no...but spent time thinking there were air pockets etc in the system...thanks for mentioning this.

I also do a lot of my own work but when there is something I'm not up to tackle I go to British Auto Repair in Scottsdale: British Automotive Repair

Gregory is a character but he is one of the few people I've found that is more OCD about cars than I am. Always good company too, usually 3 or 4 E-types, a Bentley or two, sometimes an Aston or Rolls, one time an XK150 and another a frog eye sprite.
