WhiteXKR,

I assume you bought a new center wood panel for the three gauges. How well does it match the other panels? Or are you going to have them all redone?

Thanks.

Nope not me...I have my video gauges : (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...traffic-49241/).

I am just looking into this for the good of the forum because I'm a little crazy.

I'm going to trade wood sets from my XK8 and XKR, and have British Autowood re-veneer my KX8 set. Then I would install a Garmin in my XK8 and probably sell her. At least that's the plan.

I haven't had time to take out my gauges yet but I should have them sent out by this weekend.

In the centre panel is the clock governed by the computer as mine has just started to go backwards, and yes it does keep perfect time still!

So then the question would be.... is the computer for a nav equipped car the same part number as one without...

This is sounding less likely to happen.

I believe Abacusman is in the UK. XKRs in the UK do not necessarily have navigation as they do in the US. I was assuming he had a non-nav. model.

Yes, thats correct I have no navigation equipment in the car apart from a map! I think UK cars less goodies as standard than US ones in 2001.

I have seen 2001 and up XKRs that were delivered in Canada that did NOT have the Nav System.

Yes folks, it is possible to swap out your despised navigation system for the three gauges!!

The car fully supports it, the nav. equipped cars just have some wires and the minor gauge connector missing.

The solution is a add on mini-harness that plugs right into the main harness at the instrument panel. One end has a mating connector for the 3-guage cluster, and the other end has terminal pins which you need to plug into the instrument panel connectors (I will provide instructions).

I will make up a limited number of these cables for a nominal charge. Anyone in interested please let me know (you can email me at whitexkr@comcast.net) or PM me. Once I get a head count, I will order the materials.

Obviously it is still up to you to procure the wood panels to complete the conversion. The gauge pod fits in the same mounting holes as the nav. screen.

Thanks to Xenophobe for loaning me his cluster to figure this out.

If anyone wants a 3 gauge cluster let me know, I have managed to find some one with a few new ones that may be available for around the $65-70 mark plus postage from the UK. Just starting negotiation now.

Do they have any of the 05 models with the silver center pieces?

I paid about $30 for my brand new gauge cluster on UK eBay and the guy still seems to be selling them.

Hi Frog

Yes he was getting $30 for them but the last couple he has sold have gone for a lot more.

I know I bought one. £55 inc postage hence the $65-70 mentioned above.

However, deal is $50 plus postage.

And Xenophobe the one I bought has the silver centres, which is a shame as I wanted the black centres!

And finally White, yep tried the reboot and was still going backwards, so next weekend will be fitting the new cluster. But I believe there is a reboot involving the same procedure but with the ignition on. I may try that first but have to look up exactly how to do it.

Yes, it's strange, prices seem to go in waves. A few weeks ago they were going for £15-20 and now all of a sudden the prices have rocketed. I wonder if there's any relation with the prominence of these threads? The more we discuss the subject on here and post ideas to find the solution to the swap, the higher the prices seem to go... I smell a conspiracy

Want to trade?

Mine is in the picture WhiteXKR posted. It's in excellent shape, clear plastic faces with no scratches. I need the one with the silver centers.

Xeno...I just need to hold on to yours for a couple more weeks...to test out the final version and take some pictures of the install process.
