Default My first break down

After 3 1/3 year and 33,000 miles, very lucky it happened just as I arrived home. Spotted some steam escaping from under the bonnet as I stopped the car, turned the engine off and lifted the bonnet, these was a bit of hissing going on but nothing that I could see. Went indoors for a torch and came out to this.

Looks like the a hose beneath the throttle body has let go.

That's what you get for putting a X-Mas tree in your car....

Now how are you going to get to the train station with your other car on the other side?

Seriously, sorry to hear about your misfortune. You've had a good run...hope it's an easy fix but knowing you from your other repair posts I suppect a full hose swap is in your future.

I think it's what we in the UK call 'rust'

Sorry to see your situation, bad time of year to be working on cars also. Good luck finding the culprit. Leads to the question to members, how often do you look at the floor under your Jag... (for me almost each time I look at it!)

I managed to borrow another car for a few days till we get the Audi back home so all is well.

Anyway, first check this morning was the coolant level, still plenty in there so no need to worry about engine damage and no warning lamps were on.

Next a poke around, I could see this at the back of the engine.

And I'm starting to think that this is going to be tricky to get to.

Closer up I could see that this hose is bulging at the bottom.

I then got the engine back up to temperature and used the inspection camera to get a closer look.

Although you can't see in this pic there was a jet of water coming from the bottom of the hose.

The hose goes from here over to the egr valve body, anyone know what the part number is?

Looks like it will be extremely difficult to swap out.
