Count Chef;

Despite the artful 'topless' rice patties, I hope those sliced olives had pimentos in the center to complete the effect, I don't think you will be cooking for the Gourmet Cook ISMW anytime soon as her tastes run to vegetarian fare.

But you can run the 'Chuck Wagon' on the Loire Valley Rally this summer....we should be able to find someone that will let you use their 'beater' XJR for that.

cheers,

jj

Coming, as I do, from the 'old country, I am uniquely qualified to comment on Marmite, a sublime, spreadable confection that reigns as the monarch of foods. It surprises me that there is only other Civilised Nation in the world - Australia - as evidenced by their own version of Marmite. This is Vegemite, an inferior product (after all, who can make up for our many decades-long civilisation!?)

When will that errant colony across the pond come back to its senses, and submit to the benevolent monarchy that will give it so many soap operas and the occasional Royal Wedding at ridiculous cost? You will, of course, have to give up biscuits and gravy.

Norri;

Don't you have a video on Root Canal's that would be less painful than making me watch a Marmite video?

So in perfect timing today as I stopped by to pick up a friend from Oz this morning for some skiing in Morzine she asked me if I would like a nice bit of Vegemite on some rice cakes....and couldn't understand why I fell over laughing.

I was polite but explained the story.

cheers and have fun using your Marmite to fix up the plaster or brick work.

I fall firmly in the Marmite lovers camp, Vegemite however is something spawned by the devil and should be avoided at all costs.

No offense to your Aussie guest JJ!

The world would be a better place without either of them.

No Offense to Oz or UK.....that is one export they should keep to themselves.

I believe our version, although a meat by-product, is known as Spam (Spamazoa?) Very few openly admit to liking it.

I see this thread is still simmering. Isn't Marmite the stuff they used to make plastic plates from?

Breathtaking ignorance about Marmite!!! And I suppose you'll next be claiming not to have heard of Twiglets - thin, crispy, marmite-coated savoury sticks available throughout the UK. Live life to the full! What joy it is to eat a load of these, then scrape the marmite residue from your fingers with your teeth. Google them for a picture to feast your eyes on!!

PS. Jaguarforums.com. Shame on you! No Marmite smilies - where ARE your priorities?

That's Bakelite,,, It's Marmite, That you bake in a cassarole dish and it actually becomes the dish some people add Magic Shell and serve it as a desert.

One of the most ridiculous things that I ever heard of was "FISH TACOS" sounded too weird for me,,,, Then I tried some,,, Fantastic. With the authentic dressing mmmm

half a cup of reduced fat sour cream,,, half a cup of reduced fat mayonnaise,,, one lime that’s cut in half,,, half a teaspoon of cumin,,, half a teaspoon of ground coriander,,, half a teaspoon of dried dill weed,,, half a teaspoon of dried oregano,,, one fourth teaspoon of ground chipotle chili powder,,, half a teaspoon of minced capers,,, one minced and seeded pepper of your choice,,, one tablespoon of chopped fresh cilantro...
