Need advice on 2001 XKR Convertible Roof Pump
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and looking for some advice. I have a 2001 XKR like new with only 37,000 pampered miles on her. Sadly after having the hydraulic system redone two years ago at the dealer for a cost of $2700, today I found out the Control Valve on the pump is damaged. The dealer tells me they can not be rebuilt and a new one is a whopping $5,354. I find that impossible to believe a control valve can not be replaced.
Does anyone know of a rebuild shop who could replace the control valve and bench test it for me or where I could get one and replace myself? Any advice would help. I can't justify that kind of money for what should be a $100 or less control valve.
Thanks,
Greg

Yep, this is the kind of lunacy that will probably result in me getting rid of this car that I really, really like.
Mine crapped out too. Dealer told me about $7,000 all in. Then I reminded them that I had their extended warranty. They replaced it no charge to me. The warranty is over.
$7K for a pump. Really? Seriously??
The just wanted over $300 for a remote key. Over $100 to program it. Around $500 all in for the programed remote. I bought a used one on Ebay for around $35. Programed it in less than 2 minutes.
Makes you feel like you are being played.

Unbelieveable, isn't it? Lunacy is indeed the correct word for these situations. I don't know how some of these niche companies stay in business given their insane pricing for what should be relatively routine parts. Anyone who agrees to cough up that kind of money for that kind of repair is an absolute moron. The pure definition of getting completely hosed....
