Default Need center wheel cap for 20"

I have the Montreal wheels and they all came with the original green painted center caps. I replaced one of the wheels and it came with the newer 3-dimensional style cap which I set aside and reused the old cap.

Weird thing is today I just noticed that the OEM cap is missing from that wheel (must have somehow fallen out since that was the only one missing) so I installed the one that came with the new wheel which, or course, does not match the others (see attached photos).

I thing I would like to have all the caps the same--either all the old painted style or all the newer style. Anyone have opinions on which I should go for?

Also, does anyone have the part numbers for both types? I expect these are frequently available on ebay but I am not clear as to whether the 20" wheels used a different size cap from the standard 18" wheels--anybody know?

Thanks,

Doug

I changed mine out for the newer style in black and have 4 original green ones.

Condition ranges from ok to decent, none are what you would call perfect. Also 2 of 4 are missing a retaining tab but I never lost one off a wheel.

PM me if interested, I'll let the whole set go cheap to another forum member.

Doug, I do believe that the painted caps (your first picture) are actually the newer style whereas the 3-dimensional ones (your second picture) are the older style.

One thing to be careful of is that there is a third, newer style that is not period correct for our cars even though it will fit. I've posted pictures of the 3 in chronological order. For a 2005, the center one is period-correct.

In any case, I ordered a set of the painted ones in black from from SNG. I think it was around $50 for the set.

All of our wheels across the X100s will use the same center caps no matter if they're 18" or 20".

Part number for black (which I personally think would look great with your car): C2S28254#
Part number for green: Not sure... will keep looking.

Hi All--I ended up buying the set from Charlie (ccfulton) since I am not a "concourse" type of guy but just wanted all 4 to look the same.

Actually the 3-dimensional style somehow looks more modern and I am pleased with the look.

As is often the case with "mods" like this there were some additional benefits. For one thing I think I may have picked up 15 or 20 horsepower and mpg has also gone up. The car drives smoother and all of the weird noises and quirks have miraculously disappeared. I understand that these caps will also eliminate the possibility of the convertible top hoses failing.

For future reference, these are all over eBay as well. I just got a set of 5 old style OE gray and chrome centercaps that I mounted this week for $45 shipped. Really nice look, decided to try it over the stock red caps, came out well. These are super easy to change out- just have to dismount each wheel. I like to line up the growler centered above the valve stem. But I'm OCD like that.

The older style green ones shown above initially are the originals for our XK100s I believe (green or red depending), and the more modern ones' design following were for the XK150s I think. Beware of the cheap $15 sets from China- the red ones I got faded to nothing and started peeling after a few months.
