Need help to verify leaky hose ID
#2
No direct experience here, but it looks like that high pressure hose off the power steering pump folks talk about. The factory replacement part is apparently distasteful ($$ or hard to find?) enough than most replace it with plumbing parts from the hardware store for a big saving, and getting one more aged out Norma connector off the engine bay.

^^ Yep, it is indeed the infamous failing Norma connector on the power steering fluid line. Many of us have fixed the issue by cutting off the old Norma connector and installing a 3/8-inch brass hose barb connector along with a short new section of hose and the appropriate hose clamps. Wayne (cjd777) and I did this fix on my wife's 2006 XK8 in February 2018 for less than $10 in parts. I sourced the appropriate brass hose barb connector at my local NAPA store. Not a drop of power steering fluid has leaked since we did this repair....

i have not fixed mine yet (it’s only been 6 months since discovered, lol).
But I don’t think parts removal is required. Yes, it’s a tight place, but is was posted above that alternator removal not needed, which was surprising to me.

We did used a Dremmel tool with a metal cutting wheel to get rid of the old fitting.
With a bit of twisting and turning you can not cut your fingers off, careful and slow. It's a very neat fix and not much fluid leaking out, keep the hose up as much as possible.
Jon89 did a great writeup on it at the time.

OK, I did this job, air intake off, air filter housing out.
And there is the leaking power steering fluid hose.
Leaking at the connector, between a metal pipe and a section of flexible hose.
Nice to know I have a classic XK8 with classic faults.
The connector came out in pieces, and, as recommended here, I replaced with 3/8 pressure hose and a 3/8 brass connector.
But now it has failed again because the new hose slid off the metal pipe.
So here is my dumb question: how do I make this connection secure?
The metal pipe has a ridge about an inch from the end, that I presume the old connector went behind.
The ridge in the pipe is substantially thicker so I can't squeeze the 3/8 pressure hose past it to clamp it on the far side.
And that's why it came off again.
Is it possible to force 3/8 hose past this ridge on the pipe.
Or go up a size in pressure hose, is there such a thing as 7/16 pressure hose?
If I go to 1/2 inch pressure hose, will I be able to clamp it without a leak?
Otherwise, I will need to replace the hose from the metal pipe to the cooler with a new norma connector.
I'd like to avoid that.
But this connection has to be secure.
Sorry for such a dumb question.
And thanks in advance, advice from here is priceless, Steve

You can stretch the hose very slightly by lubing it on the inside and forcing it over a blunt punch of increasing diameter. This may give you enough of an increase to get it over the ridge.
I’ve used this technique numerous times to get a generic hose to substitute for an original part

One question to whose who’ve been there / done that:
since this line is designated the high pressure line, will mere hose clamps hold the repaired section over time, or is there a superior way to secure the barbed connector and metal hose at the other end of the repair.
will fuel injection rated rubber hose be up to the job ?
How long of a length of hose is optimal ?
thanks to all.

Wayne (cjd777) and I used regular #6 worm-drive hose clamps with no issues. We used a new section of hose that was specified by Autozone for power steering fluid. Some owners have said that fuel line hose works fine. We did this job in late February 2018. Not a drop of power steering fluid has leaked since....
