beach, you will note "adster" has posted a good link which may help you, however please note that the yellow connector shown in the picture under the armrest is a 10 pin connector not a 14 pin connector as I have refered to. If you have the 14 pin connector then no problem. You will also note he has cut the yellow connector off and replaced it with a block connector.(the wires connected to the yellow 14 pin connector in my car were not long enough to enable easy access to replace it with a block connector) You will also note that "whitexkr" has refered to a discrepancy in one of the wire colours, this may well be that the U.S. parrot units are different to the UK ones, this is possibly confirmed in "adster"s link which shows the colours as I have refered to in my wire out post. Sorry if this is causing further confusion, however its best to have this information to prevent any errors.

whitexkr, checked your link regarding colour of the line in wires for the Parrot ck3100, the link you have posted is for the Parrot MKi9100 which is a brown and white wire. However if you check the Parrot CK3100 manual http://www.parrot.com/fr/support/gui...e-it-nl-pr.pdf
you will see on page 7 that the wires are in fact brown and green. ref following quote from the manual. cheers endressen

It worked!! I went with parrot 3100 and the Hyundai SOT-065 cable. I followed the instructions for connection method from endressen and stevepaa. I rearranged pins to minimize wire cutting. But, I did end up cutting wires to connect the small brown and green wires. If I were to do it over, I think I would have just cut the end off of the SOT cable and used wire ties to connect all of the wires because figuring out how to remove the pins was time consuming. Although once you figure out the pin removal method, it goes quickly. Just a note, when you lay out all of the wires from the SOT cable and the Parrot module it is very intimidating. The point is, there are only a few wires needed to make the system work...don't worry about all of the extra parts.

Also, it is hard to believe that the whole Parrot module can fit under the console...It takes some work, but it did fit.

The result is great. I am not planning to use the parrot MP3 capabilities. My goal was to have a useable bluetooth phone system that I could install myself without having to remove the stereo. I ended up using the Parrot mic and placing it at the top of the window pillar.(I have a coupe, so placement was easy.) The volume controls on the steering wheel work. The voice commands on the parrot are great. It is a great way to utilize the connections already in place. When calls come in the radio displays "phone" on the screen.

For reference, I have a 2001 XK8 Coupe with Alpine sound system. It was not equipped with a factory phone. However, the yellow 14 pin connector was under the armrest.

 

Well done beach, pleased to hear the installation went well. I think it is worth the extra work swapping the pins around instead of cutting wires - if you ever remove the Parrot to use in another car it will make re-installation much easier.

I wanted to connect a Parrot CK3100 to my 2001 XK8 without cutting the yellow harness plug and, as you say, there's very little room for splicing. Dealer couldn't find a part number and trawl of the web turned up no suppliers. I ended up getting the male plug with approx 20cm cables on from a breaker. There quite a lot of these connectors on the XK / XJ. It made a tidy installation and very easy to remove when I sold the car.

 

Also see the document in post 68 above. There is a connector source identified in the parts list.

 

Hi GGG, If you only want the Parrot CK3100 bluetooth phone installation for your car, the connector you need to fit to the yellow 14 pin connector under the centre arm rest is the SOT-065 connection harness (its for a hyundai) and can be obtained here Buy SOT-065 Hyundai ISO Parrot Adaptor Cable online at Nexxia
You only require the white male connector from the harness, but it is the only place I located the correct one for the job. If you then refer to post #53 and #54 further back in this thread, you will see a fairly simple method of connecting your Parrot CK3100.

This is a good choice to simplify wiring for a 2001 or 2002. Last time I checked that link was not working...glad to see it is back.

Wish I'd found that 4 years ago when I fitted the CK3100 to my 2001 XK8 - would have saved a load of trouble sourcing a male yellow 14 pin connector with leads from a breaker. I'll file that link info away as it's certain to come in useful in the future.

for audio - on RT3-1 jump RT5-11 to RT5-8
for audio + on RT3-2 jump RT5-10 to RT5-13
for mute on RT3-3 jump RT5-5 to RT5-7
for mic + on RT3-4 jump RT2-11 to RT5-4
for mic – on RT3-5 jump rt2-12 to RT5-3
for ground on RT3-6 jump RT2-4 to RT2-8
for 12 v bat on RT3-8 jump RT2-10 to RT2-6
for 12 v ign on RT3-10 jump RT2-2 to RT5-14

This is correct for a 2000 model year. You only need the mic. wires if you use the car's microphone wiring and not the ones with your bluetooth kit.

Any wire will do, as long as you are not adding excessive length.

 

The PSE won't jump the wires. It acts as an intermediary controller. Jump the wires. And buy pins 173682-1 for jumpers.

I'm coming over there next week. Where do you live? I'll check and see if I have some pins I can mail you once I get there.

Actually I think I have a set of jumpers already made that I lent to someone. Let me look. I won't need them again as I will be going for later model next time

Paddy, I have eight jumpers with the correct pins. Also a mate for the RT2 in the trunk. Never could find a mating connector for RT5. Also have a RT3 mating connector with pigtails 1 foot long. I could send the jumpers via mail envelope, but the connectors would need a thick envelope or small box for shipmen. Or if you want to wait we will be in London April 22-23 and you could pick them up. I could leave them at the hotel if we cannot meet up.

In my keenness to get going, I had ordered various bit and pieces (eg pins, crimping pliers) over the weekend before seeing your response (I have had an unused bluetooth car kit for around eighteen months, after my initial attempt to install revealled RT3 was electrically dead, hence keen to get it working.) I think I will have a lifetime's supply of the pins! (No, two lifetimes).
Not having to fabricate the jumpers is very attractive, so if I may, I'd love take you up on your offer. I have a Nexxia cable for RT3 in the centre console, so its just the jumpers - let's aim to meet up when you are over? Are you staying in the centre of London?
