Smile Need moderator to look at add

I am having a terrible time using the forum right now with the Wallmart add. If you even pass the cursor over the add (not even click on it) it will pop up and cover half the page. I am not against the add it just needs to be brought under control.

Thanks for a great forum.

I don't see any Walmart ad.

Have you been doing a lot of searching there?

I run FireFox as my default browser but have just tried the forum using IE9 with no filters or blockers in place.

All the usual Ads appear but I don't see anything from Walmart.

EZdriver is not going insane, I too have been cursing the Walmart ad over the last week. Its gone today, but it was ALWAYS popping up if only just passing over the thing at the bottom of the thread...which you HAD to cross to reach the message text box.

Depending upon your browser, and your settings, and what other sites you visit and allow to have access to your info (Facebook is the worst) you can get ads from anywhere, even places that are not associated with the site that you are on. That may be the case here.

Also, they are VERY sophisticated these days with the ads that you see, and you will see ads that are related to searches or other websites that you have visited that, once again, may have no relationship with the site that you are on.

Hey, this forum is free, so they have to make money somewhere, and it is through ads. Some others may very well be poaching on their territory.

Welcome to the internet.

You are right of course Kevin D

The site is free to use for all and its a price we have to pay unfortunately..........nothing is for nothing in his life!

Most / some here run ad blockers etc and or some use FF or Chrome in conjunction with these and don't see many / any ads

As I said initially, I'm NOT against the add. But all you have to do is pass the cursor over the add and it blows up to cover almost the whole screen. You don't even have to click on it to have it do that. Very annoying and hard to manage. And it has nothing to do with Jags. I support adds as they bring in money for the forum. But this is too much and it is out of control. It is not always there for those of you that haven't seen it as the adds cycle through. Haven't seen it yet today so I hope it is gone.

EZ- it's very probable that only a small percentage of the users here will see that specific ad as it's driven by many different factors, many of which are outside the control of the site administrators. These include geographical location and search history.

I turned off all my ad blockers and chose the most vulnerable browser but cannot seem to induce the ad's presence.

I agree with you that this is a bad move for the advertisers as it might just drive you away from buying from them or possibly from revisiting this site. A lose-lose.

Your best option is to install ad blocker for your browser

https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid...w=1250&bih=909

and possibly Ghostery

Ghostery

to learn to what degree we're being tracked across the interweebs.
