Never seen a red color XK
#24
This thread reminds me of what a wonderful wife I have. She is not a car person. Her favorite car is her current one, a 2007 Ford Edge. Not exactly a car one tends to dream of, but it is reliable and comfortable. She recently took a 400 mile trip with me in the Jaguar, and it had it's "issues" for most of the trip. But she never complained, and when I started getting discouraged with the car, she assured me that it would all be OK in the end, and that she felt sure I could correct the problems. Sorry, a little off topic....BTW, my XK is called Carnival Red. Not really a bright red, but it looks nice when it is clean.

Most XK that I have seen are white, grey, blacks and green. I've never seen a bright red XK?
Is a bright red XK a no no and just too loud on a XK?
Look at Porsche, traditionally they are silver but any color Porsche looks hot. Of course all Ferrari must be red.
Is a bright red XK just too much for an XK owner to live, re are owners too conservative?
Any thoughts?

A rare sighting (for me) of a red XK8 with black convertible top this past weekend in St. Augustine, FL. For a minute or two I rode along side of the older fellow in the red machine with my XJ6 at a slow pace in heavy tourist traffic, then as I pulled away I gave him a nice wave and honk of the horn.....and he just looked at me like I was an alien. My wife laughed. Either the feller wasn't freindly, or the fact that I, too, had a jag, and we were brothers of sorts was lost on him....

Bright red is the color my wife wishes mine was, but she likes it far better than the 86 944 Turbo I had until the end of last year when I 'traded'. And that means a lot! She's starting to like driving with the top down when she's able to take it out sans-kids. Also lucky to have an accepting wife here- she's somewhat of a car gal. She drove a huge 1972 fire engine red longbed Chevy pickup with a 402 in college and loved it.
WHOOP!
(H2Oboy will love that)
We have one red convertible that comes in the shop now and again for service. I don't really care for the red color Jaguar choose. It's too orange-ish. It's even a little brighter and more orangey than the color GM went with on their pick ups. Blah. I would love a deep, bold red. The maroon XK's look spectacular! Of course, I went to Texas A&M, so I'm somewhat biased.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder: I rather like it on the coupe. Speaking of which, there's a lovely red one possibly for sale on this very forum:

Phoenix Red XKR
My own XKR coupe is also Phoenix red , this is not a great pic, was a dull day and it looks nothing like this anymore but I will put pics up when it is done
When I bought my first XK I was adamant I did not want red as they were so prevalent, but now I have one I quite like it
