By the way, Tom, h20boy mentioned a "hard reset". That's done by disconnecting the negative battery cable and touching it to the positive cable. The negative cable is the shiny, braided one that doesn't have a jacket.

Thanks Rev!

I learned that trick from working on some of my other Jags.

I'll have to earn my credibility with you after the "4 quarts" thing

Default New Cat with problems (UPDATE)

G'day Gents:

Here's an update...

Repaired hairline crack in the intake with JB Weld, repaired leaks at air boot and vacuum tube on side of TB, replaced seals at air snorkle and breather tube, replaced hose breather, spark plugs, plug seals, valve cover gaskets and evap cannister (it was badly damaged).

Thoroughly cleaned MAFS and TB.

Thought I was good! The evap system monitor hadn't run yet so there may be other problems with evap but know I had a huge leak at rear canister. As far as the lean condition - the fuel trims came down and O2 sensors ran their tests and no other codes returned, initially.

But now lean condition bank 1 has returned. I'm going to dirve it a bit to see if bank 2 joins in. Then resmoke it to see where there may be add'l leaks. Where the hose breather goes into the snorkle seems very sensitive, like if you wiggle it it will leak.

I MAY need to replace the intake manifold. Does anyone have experience with a cracked intake? It's cracked right around the forward-most bolt on the drivers side. Just a hairline crack like it was overtightened. Any good source for this?

Thanks!

Tom
