Default A new Electrical Challenge!

Hi Guys
I have a new (to me) electrical problem concerning the Climate Control System.
Climate control and all associated buttons and switches work fine UNTIL you turn the lights on - either side or side and headlights. As soon as you turn these on, all the climate controls stop working. It's as if turning the lights on completely disconnects the climate controls.
Turn the lights off, and all functions on the climate system are restored. Interestingly, when the system restores, the fan control zeros even if it was on full before turning the lights on.

Anyone come across this - or have any ideas on what is happening.

Thanks for any input.

Regards

Gareth

If not the battery it's probably a bad ground / power / chafed wire. Battery would be my #1 suspect by far and easiest to go for.

The lighting control stalk and the climate control module share a ground point on the left hand side A pillar. If that has failed in some manner, it could be that the two systems are trying to ground through each other causing your problem, similar to the way rear lights/indicators/brake lights try to operate each other when the common ground wire fails.

Default Probably not Battery

Thanks for the input guys. Agree that that 9 times out of 10 it's the battery but pretty sure not this time. Battery is brand new (2 weeks) AGM battery - 12.8v standing voltage.

Thank you Armstrong - that sounds like it might be the problem area at least.

While trying various things - I also found that if you use the headlight flasher rather than turn the headlights on, nothing happens - climate controls stay active. It's only when you turn lights on that the problem occurs.

Thanks to all and keep suggestions coming if you have them.
