Are you referring to a very small metal "flap" inside the key hole itself (that the key pushes out of the way on insertion) ?

Just a quick update. I fixed the flap in the ignition canister to move freely by spraying in some graphite grease, thank you so much for tellin me to check that out because I never would have guess. I charged up my battery and the car fired right up. Tomorrow I'm going to use a volt reader on the battery with the engine off to confirm that that was the only reason the battery was being drained. Again thank you to all who have helped me so far along the way, much appreiciated!
