I joined the forum a few weeks ago as I was researching my purchase of an XKR. I am new to Jaguars, but have learned a lot already from the forums as I investigated the different years and issues.
Last week, I went and picked up my "new" 2002 XKR and drove it home almost 500 miles without a problem. The timing of the weather worked out just right as we had a blizzard the week before with almost 3 feet of snow.
The weekend I drove it home was 50 degrees (F) and now it is safely in my garage where I am working on some minor issues until the nice weather arrives. It rides great, but I have not had the opportunity to really experience the convertible top down yet.
I don't have my own pictures yet because of the weather, but I'll post a few from the previous owner. When the weather gets nicer (probably in about a month), I'll be polishing it and post much better pictures.
It now has 90K miles and, so far, it seems to have only the typical issues:
1. seat switch/seat module problem (fixed)
2. headrest cable problem (researched)
3. Loose door panel.
4. Leaking washer fluid when full
Fortunately, I live near our forum member WhiteXKR who was generous enough to fix my seat control module this weekend. A big "Thanks" goes out to him for doing this to help out another Jag owner.
Top up in the cold before heading into the garage.
Very nice, the interior looks really clean. I wish I lived by someone that was good at working on these cars, I would like to watch, help them to learn more about these cars, although I have learned a lot from reading these forums.
I have to say, after seeing it in the flesh, Stringray's 2002 XKR is in super nice shape, with a new top, pristine wheels and an interior that looks almost new.
