New Member, just saying Hi in this section.
Hey all,
I've already posted in the Introductions section but i figured I'd introduce myself over here as well and share a couple of pictures of my new to me 1998 XK8 Convertible (Titanium with warm charcoal interior).
XKs are very rare here in Sri Lanka (Only 4 X100s were ever imported) so it's even more of a privilege than usual to be able to own one. An XK8 has been a dream car of mine since I first saw pictures of one back in 96 and got a 1.18 scale model in 97 so when I got the opportunity I naturally jumped at it!
The car is in decent shape with low miles (53k Kilometers) and it was originally ordered with what seems like every option available including premium sound and CATS suspension. It has a few issues I need to keep an eye on such as a transmission that shifts inconsistently and slips under hard throttle sometimes, the beginnings of a power steering fluid leak and shocks that might need changing but overall is pretty nice at the moment.
You guys really do have an amazing forum here and it helped immensely when I was researching the car. I still am a bit concerned about whether I'll be able to run it in the long term (Parts and service is pretty hard to come by here other than the dealer) so will really appreciate your advice going forward!
Cheers.

The Car looks great and wishing you the best on your new ride. I'd suggest you take some time and look at the pinned topics in the forum, a host of information on items to be checked and possible service. There are a number of threads on what to do with 'my new car' if you do a search these will give you some ideas to check.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I've been reading through the forums as much as possible trying to pick up as much knowledge as I possibly can and the sheer amount of information is amazing!
Honestly I don't think I would have picked up the car if it weren't for this forum and the UK forum because Jags don't have a lot of support down here and even the sole Jaguar dealership considers the XK "A very difficult car to maintain" (Direct quote from them - I guess the rarity means they never really bothered learning their way around the model)
Thankfully the information on here and access to a couple of good independent (non Jaguar but capable and willing to listen) shops helped me make up my mind. Hoping it turns out to be pleasant experience..
