Default New remote key fob

Hello all out there,

I need a new remote key fob for my newly acquired XK8 MY2001 and apart from the Jaguar genuine key fob LJE2610BB or BC units which are very expensive, have anyone tried these alternative third party remote key fobs ?

Sorry it is the Italian EBAY but you get the point...

I'm afraid that they will stick out more than the regular key and I'll hit it with my knee, anyone have any experience with these remote key fobs ?

Thanks in advance !

I don't know about those, but you may be interested in this thread HERE. It shows the process of converting a flip-style fob from an S-Type or X-Type for use on your XK8. I love having the flip key as I don't have any other keys with it t and it doesn't hang down and hit my knee and is key and fob all in one.

Hi,
Take a look at the fobs in this post from motorcarman:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...8/#post2451613

Which of the fobs is the same as yours?

Or, if you don't have a fob, what are the last 6 characters of your VIN?

Personally, I prefer the smaller ones like the original, but both are available. I bought one like attached and found the programming on line. Personal choice but several are avail on internet search.

Hi Blindside,

thanks for the tip, but to me it looks too daring and I'm aafraid I'll mess it up !

Besto to stick to a proven ready made solution for me !

Hello Michael,

thanks for the interesting link, I have the second key fob, the one on the right side, which has the Jaguar part no . LEJ2610BB written in the back of the fob.

Hi Markmbaha1,

these seems a good replacement with a human price !

Just need to check they are compatible for the European market, for the US and some oother markets they send the signal at a different frequency...

Please send me the complete link to the site, in the screenshot the first part of the link is missing...

Thanks for the tip !

Thanks for the confirmation. The parts catalogue shows that the early 2000 had the older style fob. Luckily, for you it's the later Ford part. If you think LJE2610BB/C is expensive then check out the price of the 97-99 ones, even if Heritage could supply them:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/lja2610bb.html

Note that in Europe you need the 433MHz version, not the US 315MHz. You should be able to pick one up for around €30 or so.
