Based on your post, pomosv, I went out and unplugged my antenna (aka The Alien Beacon). It only took a minute to figure out how to move the side piece in the boot, shine a flashlight to the antenna base and unplug the connector.

And voila...I still get good FM reception with no antenna raised. AND, perhaps more importantly, no antenna raised when I listen to CDs. Imagine that.

It's simple and inexpensive and a bit more elegant. It allows you to raise the antenna when you need it, but leave it down when you don't. With the switch on, the antenna raises when the stereo is powered on and lowers when off just like normal, but when off, the antenna stays down for good. This way if you find a station that just isn't coming in with the antenna down, you just have to flip a switch and the antenna extends up.

Having just come from a Porsche Boxster, I have to say the one thing I would like to improve is the steering as it seems very over-boosted.

Have you considered anything in that regard?
BTW: I will follow your lead on the exhaust and the bigger tires.

Trying to decide whether to get 20 mm or 25 mm spacers. Did you have any rub issues with 25 MM? Did you use 25 MM on front and rear?

 

I used 25mm spacers (1''), they are almost perfectly flush, no issues. I've tried the no-name spacers but they don't seat properly and one of the studs even broke! H&R spacers made for the XK have no issues, though they seem to be a special order item so I had to get in touch with several sellers before I found one willing to order them in. I've since bought 20'' wheels and have the spacers available, if you'd like them (you can PM me if interested).

Thanks for the praise, as far as steering goes I find the spacers on the stock 18's improved lateral stability through corners. I now have 20'' detroits on and find the handling further improved, handles great (almost makes me want to give an autox circuit a shot in the XK)!

I will try the silencer mod on my XKR. I purchased and installed the Mina cone filter but really felt like I was losing power due to the hot intake temp.... it was surely just an impression... but still. Thanks for taking the time to detail your mods with great pictures...

Just wanted to thank you for the motivation to get this done before spring. I still have the rear suspension to do, but that starts this weekend. I have replaced all of the bushings and ball joints as I work thru the process. Here are some pics before and after.

Thanks Graham, I think the rear suspension may be trickier (thinking about removing it completely/ uh oh) Also, I broke down and ordered the high flow cats from Nameless, the stainless under axle exhaust from the center muffler back from Mina Gallery (deletion of the middle resonators) to the tips, and a stainless steel center muffler from XKs Unlimited. Looking forward to working on installing those items when they arrive. Oh, I ordered some ss brake lines as well. I have seen that some people here have had fitment problems with the Goodridge so I sent my old ones they could copy exactly (I think the problem people had was the length/ we'll see, they were shipped on the 20th of this month.......a month from my order date so I'm expecting perfection.

I just remembered....I did go with the chrome Milanni rims, but I did some customizing on those as well. There was a bit too much chrome so I used a Dremel tool to "rough-up some areas prior to applying some G-2 black so my drilled and slotted rotors would "pop". I'm thinking about 2 more months before I register her and take her for a spin

I would just be leery of wheel bearing failure with that offset.

Which muffler did you remove? I think it is the long center one? where did you place the Xpipe? in the middle, beginning or end of the tubings?
