Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

Or checked the voltages at the MAF connector to make sure there is a good +12, +5, and ground?

On the 2002 and earlier cars the part load breather can become clogged pushing oil into the intake tube, fouling the MAF sensor. If you open the airbox is there oil on the air filter?

I'm a 3 month newbie also. don't know if it will help you but I downloaded all the repair and service repair training manuals at

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

It's a lot of reading but scanning thru the books whenever I need to find what I needed was a huge help, especially the pictures and pages that show where the relays, each module and what it controls and all the myriad of fuses/boxes. The pages in one of the manuals lists each component and where it is wired and what fuse or other components it goes to along with a physical description of where and how to access it on the car. And also where the ground lugs are that grounds each item.
