Yep, the XKR is great. I have owned them from 1999, starting with a coupe and now with the drop-top. Love the car, and can't see me ever changing it.

The first thing I needed done on my 2000 XKR with 95k was to replace the electrical connector for transmission. If you see tranny fluid on the floor, it's your turn.

I'm glad the car is looking good, but I'm bummed about the great price of $7,200. I have a 2001 XKR with 80,000 miles and I paid a lot more three years ago. Oh well, if I keep it forever I do not have worry about depreciation, right?

I also had to change out the electrical tranny connector. Started leaking in garage, PI the A to change. Also changed myself: fuel pumps and secondary tensioners. The tensioners (zip tie method only way to go!) were the easiest compared to the fuel pumps and tranny!

I don't think you should let it bother you. I recently paid $8k for my 97 with 143k miles. I'm perfectly satisfied with it, but all the major issues had already been taken care of. I'm fairly certain even paying what I did the car is worth more parted out... the fact it was an $80k car new I could get at 1/10th the original price is pretty amazing to me.

I paid a premium to buy the 05 XKR that had the features I wanted, I still don't mind. Hopefully I'm getting exactly what I want and if the car is as described, I got a steal no matter if I paid more than the 'going rate'. It's really amazing how much Jaguar you get for the money you paid. Imagine buying new... that should alleviate your concerns.

Over the years I have spent huge amounts of money on cars, women, boats and beer. The rest of my money I just wasted.

Congratulations on your new toy. I picked up a beautiful red on black 2002 XKR about 6 months ago thinking my son would use it and not drive his '78 280z so much if he had a shiny, sporty convertible at his disposal. But he didn't want it, and I've never had so much fun. I replaced shocks and front bushings (with aftermarket polyurethane ones) to alleviate some of the steering jitters and bottoming out, and have had a ball ever since. Of course, I have already been treated to a green hydraulic fluid shower from the convertible, replaced the actuator, the hoses, the fittings (and it still dribbles a little every few days down along the driver's side floor panel, I've already threatened to shoot the owner {only half kidding} of the shop who did the work, I've been back so many times), but it's so much fun, I've made it my daily driver, parking the Buick Enclave except on days when I have to transfer a large load. I get stopped and complimented on the car every single time I drive it, and I can honestly say, it's the cheapest (as in least expensive) car I have ever purchased. Enjoy it, drive it, have a great time.

I'm still amazed by this. It's one of the least expensive and most fun vehicles I've ever had. And it does get people commenting quite often. I'm hooked, that's for certain.
