My JTIS must be an older version? It only says Issue 21, and it doesn't have that picture in the database. Can you tell me what version you have, and where you recommend getting one? I had bought two disks from different vendors online, only to find out they were the same, even though the labels were slightly different (may have bought a bootleg copy, for all I know. I sent back one, and kept the other, both of which were labeled Issue 21 (1995 to 2004 M.Y. - All models). Maybe yours has been updated to cover newer models? Thanks. Dan

Mine is the 2005 edition, as it doesn't say version anywhere on the label, only difference from the previous one (only went up to 2003 XJ, I thought) was the coverage of the 2004 XJ series. Perhaps it has some more content??.

Here's an ebay seller online that has this version if you want to purchase. Or, I would first try the free download we have on the forums, see if that works for you any differently. It's not the latest one, I know that for sure.

All of the ebay JTIS CD's are bootleg copies. Use the free bootleg download on this forum.

Issue 21 was the last issue.

Default My update

Thought I should do an update as I started this thread because I couldn't find one that fit my problem in the search function.

If you have a purge valve issue FIX IT YOURSELF. I can not believe I paid the dealer $450 the first time this needed to be done. The part can be bought for around $70 and it took me 45 minutes to do this very easy fix. The only reason it took that long was the part I received from the dealer was a little different than the one the same dealer had put on originaly.

I have pics if anyone cares but the "replacement" the dealer put on had a vent tube that went to what looked like a cheap gas filter and then it had a short hose that was left open. The new replacement I received from the same dealer didn't have this so it took me around 10-15 minutes to ponder what to do. The dealer had told me the one they had changed had cracked and I saw no sign of that at all.I did get them to send me the new part at no cost.

Well I put on the new part and the smell went away. I think the dealer had just put on the wrong part or installed it incorrectly the first time.

Simple repair with minimal effort and saved myself $450. Can't beat that.

nice follow up spf72. Any pics of the old vs the new? That sure is an odd difference.

There are 2 versions of the purge valve. The original had a corrosion problem and so the second version came with a breather hose with a filter to vent moisture and prevent corrosion. There was a TSB for this. The original valve would intermittantly fail to seal and you would get a P0455 code. Jag said if you got this code and couldn't find a leak then replace the valve with the new version.

Default Purge valve/JTIS download

Thanks for the feedback on the purge valve - am having it installed tomorrow, along with the canister close valve. Canisters are apparently OK.

By the way Turbo - the link to the JTIS download gives a bad .zip file - tried x4 to get it to work, but Zip software says it is a corrupted file. I won't bother to try to get one downloaded online elsewhere, because I got a nasty virus the last time I tried, in spite of firewalls and antivirus programs, so would recommend AGAINST anyone trying the 3rd party download folks - just asking for viruses.

Didn't get a virus on Turbo's download, but the file is bad (who knows?).
Thanks anyway. Dan

I can make a copy of my disk and send it to you if you would like. I know that one is good. I have used it a lot!

I just replaced what is apparently a bad JLB1515AA filter, the original on my '99 XK8, with a JLB1515AB that I bought inadvertently (but it sounds like I did well). Any idea on how to source the filter? That didn't come with the part I bought from a breaker's yard in the UK. I'm going just stick a fuel filter on there for now.
