No crank problem - RESOLVED

No crank problem - RESOLVED
Hello guys,
thought it best to start a new thread with this no crank/no start problem.
Following my update on a belt and oil change together with a rocker cover removal and replacement I still cannot get him to crank over.
Codes are P0335 Crankshaft position. Dash shows Restricted performance and a yellow light and red light.
Battery fully charged overnight, so I doubt if its that, just fails to crank.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Seems improbable that you would have done anything at the rear of the engine, but not too bad to check. The sensor is removed to insert the alignment tool if you were setting the timing, accessable at the rear of the engine underneath. Maybe a hard reset will help, or maybe you have cyl wash. Good luck (and do you have JTIS?)

Thanks for the info Graham, had a long day yesterday and worked on the car for a few hours got frustrated and retired to the lounge and the comfort of a bottle of red which I normally never do. Then resorted to wifey's tablet to update, hence the misleading part of my last question last night.
Should have been, " I don't know what the cps plug " looks like or where it lives ".
Many thanks for the clarification. Where it lives must mean taking the air filter and connections off, in order to see the CKP Crank position sensor.
I do not think the car has barrel wash as I believe this happens when the engine turns and fails to fire when attempting to start it? Mine does not turn or make any attempt to, all I get is the sound of the pump and relays clicking together with the indications on the dash.
Thanks for diagram Graham, its really helpful.
Also thanks to all who have helped and advised.
Cheers,
Arty.

The CPS is actually under the car and goes into the bellhousing, crawl under and look up you will see it......
This could be down to something completely different as I don't think the CPS would stop it from cranking..... Just out of curiosity put the car into Neutral and see if it will start

Arty,
I picked up on the CKP references but failed to absorb your information that the engine wasn't turning.
In addition to possibility of the Brake Interlock Solenoid or Brake Pedal Switch having developed a fault, check the main connection box in the boot:
(this is my 2005 XK8 but the earlier cars are similar)
The connection loosening or cable terminals starting to break up is a known issue which prevents sufficient power for the starter.

Arty, slow down, because we're getting sidetracked trying to help you. If the starter is not turning over the motor when you turn the key, it is totally different from engine codes. I posted a link already to Gus' site and his step by step process for a no-start situation. Food for thought....If you had the battery charging, why? Is it weak? Did you charge with the battery connected to the car? Did you check the power cables from the battery to the main fuses in the trunk and then to the starter for tightness and corrosion? Did you do a hard reset? (My car seems to have a glitch in the security system that makes me do a reset once in a while for the car to start. Could be the exciter ring going bad.) Did you reset the inertia shut-off switch? Investigate, then let us know what's happening.

Success!
Well I cleaned up all the fuses and links in the boot/trunk and made sure everything was clean and like new again. Tried the car in park and neutral and still no joy.
Apologies to ALL.
I remembered cleaning up the fuse/relay box's at the front of the car and leaving WIFEY to put the cover on the right hand side single relay ( just to give her something to do and have a hand in the project ( FAIL ) ). I just left her to it as one of the covers would not fully engage in the retaining hole and was just sitting there. So when I checked today I discovered the relay was popped out of its mounting. Pushed it back in and he fired straight up.
Again profound apologies for wasting peoples time on this wild goose chase, my bad.
On good thing to come out of it is if someone else has similar fault readings this is a relay to check along the way.
Thanks again to everyone who helped.
Cheers,
Arty

Thanks again for all the support!!!!
I've taken wifey for a drive just to test him out and everything appeared O.K.
I will check for any leaks in the morning. I blame myself really for NOT checking after her, I know she could smash a ball bearing without any trouble so I should have been more careful, lesson learned.
