noisy air con fan
I am having a strange problem with air con fan noise,Its separate from the air con fan as its static when increasing fan speed, its actually louder than the fan speed on medium
also the fan momentarily cuts out for a second when turning right (RHD car) I now think its the fan under the steering column to draw air over a sensor for temp control, but it seems a bit loud for thatl wonder if theres a fuse for this fan so I can see if noise stops
anyone else have this problem?

noisy fan
Hi Johnken,
The noise is a fan on high, but its not the air con blower fan as I can adjust air con fan speed up and down and it doesnt affect this noise, so I am assuming its the fan under the steering column that samples the cabin air (aspirator).
Its very loud, equivalent to the normal air con/heater fan on high.
Its there constantly unless switching off air con completely, it only stops momentarily when turning right.
I was going to disconnect it ( pull off a wire) but I thought that might throw up a fault code.
May have to pull it out and see if a clean will fix it, I hate pulling off dash panels as they are quite fragile and I dont want to break clips etc
maybe a search here to see if anyone has posted a picture of where the facia panel clips are.

The first part of this video shows removal of the lower dash (basically two screw at the bottom and pull the panel forward)
It is reasonably rugged and normally is not damaged unless abused. Simply unplug the aspirator fan to confirm it is the problem. It will throw up an error code on the climate control, but it should clear on the display (except for fault history) when it is plugged back in.
