I don't know about the NP 200 cell catalysts passing emissions, but the downtubes he sells that are "off-road" style without catalysts would never pass. I'm also not sure if they were throwing codes from a sensor after them or not, I can't remember how the discussion went on them. Perhaps they weren't going to be popular and maybe they weren't worth the effort and maybe that is why I only see the 200 cell cats on his site.
I know around here running without cats wouldn't be a problem (I ran my old Cougar without cats for years when I put a different exhaust on her) If my stock catalysts died I would consider NP's downpipes without cats. As nicely made and free flowing as the 200 cell cats are, straight pipes would flow even better and cost even less.

Now that I look again, I see NP does have both options listed: 200 Cell High Flow Catalytic Converter or Track Pipe - No Catalytic Converter.
2000-2002 Jaguar XKR Downpipes - Nameless Performance
I'm not 100% sure the XK8 and XKR have the same style downpipes, but I would guess they do. Hopefully someone can confirm. Also it would be great to know if there was a change in 2000 that changed the downpipes since they list these as 2000-2002 rather than 1997-2002.

Ok guys, thanks for that. here's a question though. Does the Xk8 have 'downstream' O2 sensors after the cats (i.e. four sensors) and if so, I'm assuming that, as mentioned, the car will throw trouble codes if the downstream O2's aren't sensing 'converted' exhaust gas. Again, no big deal for me, but the check engine light would trigger, hence no NYS inspection.... ![Frown](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Ok guys, i just spoke with the guy who owns the shop where the car is. He says that he thinks what happened is that the cat 'turned around' inside the case or broke down, and wasn't letting the heat out. This in turn heated and melted the wiring in the channel above, and this caused the car to not be able to shut off. he also suggested a 'V2 simulator' to fool the ECU into thinking the cats were there and functioning correctly. That sounds like win win to me. No cats, no check engine light, straight through pipes! = better sound.... He also says the roof works fine, he's been caring for the car for about a year, and the only other thing he KNOWS it will need, is front tyres. He also said that he replaced all the 'plastic in the coolant system' (how he described it to me) as he says that goes brittle. I think that's the same engine, more or less, as my 2000 Discovery. Sounds like a plan, I'll give it a go.
