Thanks! I will update it when I get another chance to take some pics. The day I went out, it was nothing but direct sunlight, and this car does not photograph well with that. This weekend, or next, I'll clean it up and go back out to the busted barricades for an 'update' photoshoot.

Matt, that's the exact reason I love the platinum or titanium color. Living in gloomy Seattle, these colors look about the best of any color in filtered light!

Really nice job, and a

Glad I don't have to do that on my car I'd probably scratch it in so many ways I'd be amazed myself.

Matt
Big thumbs up, the 3 pc. grille has always been the best looking of the available options. One thing I really like is the way the grille is recessed, The one piece grille looks to much like a add on. I think it would look much better if it was recessed in like the 3 pc. I don't know if anyone has tried to recess a one pc., but I have never seen one.

gracias fellas. Dough, there's a convex one-piece out there, it looks good...but I agree, if it were set back more into the mouth of the beast, it would look much better.

Hi Matt, I managed to find a grill for my XK8, and needed to have the nose cover overhauled, so seemed a good time to do both!

Thanks for the inspiration!!

I'm generally a "stocker" too, but the moment I saw this thread I knew I was going to make an exception in this case. Before that moment, I had no issue with the "braces" at all.

One modification that I haven't seen done yet is keeping the splitter and remove the overriders. If that was possible, it would look more like the front of the legendary XJ13. And that one I like

I must admit that I haven't seen my perfect solution yet, either. Some designs that look good on a computer screen don't look as good when standing in front of the actual car.

I do like that image below, BeO, and I also like the nose on the Eagle Speedster, which of course looks back to the original E-Type. Image attached.

Coupe, I like that Speedster. The coupe version looks pretty racey too!

Here's a little better lighting and background on mine, trying to convey the overall appearance...

I thought perhaps a smaller badge for the grill would look less crowded, but couldn't really find anything. It is growing on me, however.

Any chance of a close-up shot of the bumper so we can see how the badge holes were dealt with?

There should not be anything to see, if the job is done properly you will not have any issues, in the larger hole I actually fit a small aluminium disc then from the back use Fibral (UPol) to hold it in place, then you fill the front with some top stop. I have found any other way and you get sinkage, I do the same when I fill in the side markers (not that is applicable on a US forum)

Thumbs up

First, see the yellow arrow in the pic below? This bolt holds that black bumper bar secure. A 19mm ratcheting wrench is the only way to get to it AND get it back on. Loosen it on each end, but do not remove it (I don't think you can actually) so that the bar moves up and down about 1/2 inch...this is critical to getting a little extra space to negotiate the parts into the bumper cover.
H20boy, Last weekend I was lucky in finding a 3 piece grill with the overriders covers and even the metal bumpers for $30 and shipping $45 for a total of $75 in EBAY. Now, while waiting for the products to arrive, I started the preparation as per your magnificent process. Already remove the overriders and the splitter, cut the nose corner flairs and painted the black bumper. Different as yours, the chrome splitter was attached with the plastic fasteners, not metal bolts; secondly, the covers fasteners were shorter than yours, which made it very easy the removal of those, contrary to your experience.

Now, my question is, after the installation, how do you went back to retighten the 19mm bolt that secures the black bumper, from under the car? Is there enough space to do it? Or from above with the hood open?

Looking forward to get my hands on the grill and overriders and finish the job.

Thanks for a great thread which without it I wouldn't have any clue on how to start.

that british racing green is gonna look great with that xkr grille on her!

I couldn't reach anything in that grill area from the topside, I worked the fasteners and removed everything from underneath. Jacking up the front may help getting that accomplished. Don't forget the wratcheting wrench
