Default Off On A Long Road Trip

Finally found a nice setting for Jag pictures.

A while ago I asked the question, about should I take my 2004 XK8 on a long road trip, would it be reliable. I have done all of the standard maintenance items and now put on 3500 trouble free miles since I got her. With the encouragement from the people on this board we are setting off from London, Ontario to the Gaspe Peninsula. My wife has decided she can pack for 10 days in soft luggage and will deal with not taking everything we would take in the van. Looking forward to the top downs drive along the south shore of the St. Lawrence river. Thanks for the encouragement I got from people here and all of the tips for caring for the girl. Hope to get some great pictures of her by the ocean, topless. (The Car)

Sounds like a great road trip! Best of luck; hope she purrs all the way (the car).

Although I like reading about Jaguar issues on the forum, I especially enjoy reading about long road trips.

The one thing I demand of my cars is they are always ready to take me anywhere in Europe without additional preparation. In excess of a 1000 miles and three countries in a day is not unusual!

Enjoy the trip and keep us posted on progress.

Ahhh - I have done that trip in my old beater wagon. The XK will soak up those highway miles beautifully.

Recently returned from a 2500+ mile trip from Memphis, through Detroit, Windsor, Ont., Watkins Glen, NY (drove the track), Pittsburgh area, West Virginia, western Virginia, and the length of Tennessee. Avoided interstate highways to the greatest part and only used them to escape large cities and the quick run home from WV.

Our 2006 XK8 ran a charm. Only car-related hiccup was a loose lug-nut scare on the mountainous back roads of West Virginia. Had alignment and tires balanced just before leaving, and didn't recheck tightness myself.

In short, the Jag was a delight (top up and top down).

I have done all those roads in my past but on my Goldwing motorcycle. If this trip goes well I will probabprobably take the Jag to our fall Myrtle Beachtrip. I am thinking a detour through The Great Smokey Mokey Mountain National Park will be a bucket list kind of thing. And the bonus I would like to put a new set of tires on her so I have staggered like OEM and it is about $400 dollars cheaper in South Carolina than Ontario. Thanks for letting me know about your trip, we need to hear the joy of Jag ownership as well as the sorrow.
