Wink Oil change

Hi Folks.

Now for something completely different! No Problems with my first oil change on the XKR. For anyone who hasn't done one yet, it was the easiest to do on all of the vehicles that I have owned (especially my Probe and GT Mustang). The filter is very easy to get at and doesn't then splash over a bunch of other parts when you unscrew it. There is a small plastic shield over top that has a single 7mm bolt holding it. The plug takes a 13mm socket. The R got 7.4 L of 10w30 Formula 1 full synthetic and I replaced a Ford FL Long Life 2021 with a Fram PH5618 (their most expensive of course).

Just thought I'd throw some positive comments into the mix.

Regards
RJAG

Post Oil change XKR

Your right,it is a easy oil change. On your choice of oil filters,I prefer based on what input I got from others to use the Jaguar oem filter,or Wix.Others on this board have not been kind to Fram.

Second that on the OEM filter! Yeah I know they cost 20.00. but you can't point the finger at fram if anything screws up.

My son has a mini cooper s and trust me the OEM is the only one to use on a mini also, other wise you could end up with a drive way of fresh oil.

OK, don't tease me here. What kind of problems do you attribute to Fram?

I've read on other car forums (Corvette & Ford Taurus SHO) that the Fram filters don't have much filter material in them and what is there doesn't do as good a job as other filters and the anti-drain valve doesn't hold very well.

CarQuest sells their brand of filter (made by Wix) for $16.00. They are the same size as OEM filters.

I found some Bosch filters online for $7.00 but they are short filters (not as long as OEM, Wix) so less filter surface.

The Lincoln LS uses the same filter as the Jag and sometimes you can find them at a cheaper price because you're not asking for a filter for a Jaguar, you're asking for a filter for a Ford.

WIX makes the NAPA filters also.

Good to know. Thanks folks. I did take off the Ford filter FL Long Life 2021. Wonder if that is the LS filter? BTW, anything else from the LS that we can use?

Thanks.

Default Oil Change

From what I could find it is.As a matter of fact,if you have the old filter, cut it open and see if it matches the OEM Jag spec.
