Besides the switch, another common cause is the oil sump screen getting clogged with plastic bits from broken tensioners and chain guides.

I second the oil switch thing. I actually paid $150 for the dealer's second opinion - which was A) bad switch, or b) worn rod bearings. Bought a switch for $18 from O'Reillys and replaced it myself & that fixed the problem instantly
Now I wish I hadn't wasted money at the dealer...

The switches do go bad, but an oil sump clogged with plastic bits is also a reality on these engines and an inspection can give you an idea as to the condition of the plastic timing components.
