Old Fuel Filter - hesitation under WOT
Yesterday I had some scary hesitation under wide open throttle. I thought about it and realized I hadn't changed my fuel filter in 30 or 40K miles. Well good news - it was almost solid, could hardly blow through it when I got it out. Car is running wonderfully again.
It's such an easy fix I figured I'd post this for future searches and as a friendly reminder - don't forget yours.
The clamp that holds the filter in place uses an 8mm bolt; The small nut on the fuel line came off with a 5/8 inch wrench (yes I know it should be metric on the Jag, but this worked perfectly). The 20amp (yellow) fuse for the fuel pump (pull it to depressurize the system) is #23 in the trunk's fuse box.

I replaced the factory fuel filter in my wife's 2006 XK8 as part of the 90,000-mile service. The few drops of fuel that leaked out of it after removal were a greyish color. I decided that an appropriate change interval going forward would be 60,000 miles. The vehicle now has 116,300 miles on it....
