one of my coolant leaks
Since I started to measure my coolant leak, it started to get worse.
From the end of March to the end of August, I topped up the coolant bottle with about a fifth of this bottle, since then you can see I have had to use about 4/5th, milage recorded on the bottle. So today I had a closer look.
Up till recently there was never any drips beneath the car, however a few days ago I saw a couple of pink drips just behind the front left wheel arch.
After pulling the filler tank up I could see this.
I removed it cleaned it but there was no vsible hole, even with my 200x usb microscope the was no obvious pin hole.
Refitted now, I'll order up a new on on Monday.

This pink fluid (area circled in red) may look familiar...........
I spent weeks chasing an intermittent coolant loss on my 2001 XK8 during which I removed the Expansion Tank twice and closely examined it for cracks.
Not finding any cracks or holes, I was convinced the fluid was anything but coolant. Eventually, checking with a hot engine, I saw a drop appear from the base of the Expansion Tank in the same area shown in your pic.
New Expansion Tank fixed the issue. These plastic cooling components behave in mysterious ways!
