Default Opening Trunk on 2000 XKR convertible

My name is Jeff Post and after living many years in beautiful Hawaii, I now live in Manassas Virginia. I was replacing the battery on my 2000 XKR convertible when, after disconnecting the battery, I stupidly closed the trunk. Any thoughts on how I can get back in would be helpful and appreciated. I can't believe Jaguar didn't put a key slot on the trunk itself so you could open it manually with a key

There is indeed a key slot for opening the trunk. On my wife's 2006 XK8, it is located in the XK8 badge below the right-hand taillight assembly....

Jeffpost,

+1 to Jon89. See the Youtube video "To the Garage" - it's covered in Episode 1. Link below.

Hope it works as lack of use may mean turning the key may be very stiff. Shot of lube may be needed to help it moving.

Thanks for your help. I had no idea that trunk key slot was there.
