Overhaul Suspension Bushes Etc
I want to get the suspension and steering/handling back to somewhere what it was when it rolled out of factory.
What bushing and joints that have worn should I renew? (44k miles).
I guess
Shock mounts
Sway bar bushings
Upper susp. bushes
Front end tie rods/ball joint
Anything else?

Just to help you out - I think this is the page John is talking about
Jaguar XK8 - XK8R (97+) Performance Suspension Bushings
Eventually I'd like to do the same on my car.. not sure if I can do this on my own without air tools but.. I'd like to tighten up the suspension as well and make the ride like new.

44K miles, The ball joints and tie rods could still have a lot of life in them. Check the condition of the boots and floppiness of the tie rods when the suspension is dis-assembled to replace the upper shock mounts and wishbone bushings. If the ball joint dust shields are good and the balljoints aren't lose/clunky, just leave them be. They are a lot of work to replace.
If you don't have the CATS shocks, you may want to spring for new bilstein shocks while everything is apart. The lower shock mounts go bad in front and the upper foam and bellows are included with the rear shocks, so its not much more to buy new shocks instead of refurbing the old ones.
