Hello David from Devon and Truck Graphics from Maryland.

FIXED. Hooray.

I was unable to position the cable-sheath to solve the problem. I tried. I tried for 5 straight days. Finally drove the car in limp home mode to local mechanic. With car on lift, and following the technical bulletin and photos you provided, he was able to correctly position and secure the connections from below, then secure the shift connections from above. Total was US $80.

This would not have been possible without your support and help.

It always amazes me how the experience of Jaguar enthusiasts is shared through this forum. The help and sage advise is greatly appreciated.

Very respectfully, Bob G.

Bob.
You came through the weather with nobody hurt, and your car works.
What more could a man want.

Er ... well ......... anyway - you know what I mean !!

Default Note of appreciation

Thank you David from Devon UL. The xk8 drives great. In hindsight, I now recognize the early on symptoms. During local driving, stopping at red lights then accelerating, my wife and I noticed irregular up shifting. Now that inconvenience is fixed. Hopefully this will help others with a P0706 fault. Best US $80 I ever spent on a repair. Through your suggestions and help, I have 20+ extra safety switch springs, in case anyone else needs one.
