That was a data input to bring up the thread. I have a year 2000 4ltr xk8 with this problem. I am not sure if the mechanic (not a jag mechanic) that did the diagnostic was pointing me towards the correct sensor. (One near the bulkhead) The answers on this forum change between different car/engine models, and use different terms to describe individual sensors. What I need is the location of the sensor and I can go from there. Thanks for your attention.

That was a rather brusque first post you made. The follow-up was considerably friendlier and deserving of a detailed reply.
The P1647 possible causes from the Jaguar DTC lookup for 2000MY X100:
The Cylinder Numbering showing Bank designation for the 2000MY X100:
The HO2S locations for the 2000MY X100:
If it requires a new HO2S, look for threads discussing aftermarket ones at attractive prices - not always the best choice.
