Painted Calipers

I was starting to apply the Dupli-Color Engine Enamel clear coat on the calipers. The can says to apply within one hour of applying the color layer. Since I didn't do this in time, I decided to wait 5 days for the paint to cure. After 5 days I started to apply the clear coat with a brush and noticed the paint was coming off, so I stopped. Not sure if I can apply a clear coat at this point. Maybe I missed my window of opportunity while the paint was drying. Any suggestions?
I may just leave the calipers painted solely with the duplic color caliper paint. I did put 3 to 4 coats on each caliper so that may be enough.
And after that I applied the vinyl "Jaguar" lettering. Was hoping the clear coat would help seal these decals on the calipers.

Hi Gents. I am attaching my recent caliper paint job done using Hi and Hi Temp Decal kit (silver) purchased on eBay for less then $10 (4 booklets of ten in multiple sizes - great quality btw). I don't have four jacks so I painted rear calipers first, let dry for an hour, applied the decals, and moved on to paint the front set. The worst part was putting the caliper clamp on afterwards without damaging the still pretty fresh paint . Anyway, below are the pics. Note the close match in color between the center cap and the caliper . Must like green to appreciate this

Very pleased with the positive reception from such tough audience! There simply isn't a better reward than appreciation of one's work by others with similar passion . Planning on replacing rotors and pads this weekend with R1 drilled/slotted eLine series. Will post pictures after it's done hoping the hard fitting clamps wont rip of the caliper paint

All four rotors and pads are swapped. It's quite a different experience braking on those rather budget R1 Eline rotors with PosiQuiet pads. It's nothing short of shockingly smooth...that being out of the way, I just noticed the match of the rotors not only with the center cap, but now also with the Jag emblem. Quite unintended coordination, but also pleasing at the same time .
Btw, the paint and the decals hold quite well! No chipping after popping of the caliper clips off or after putting new ones back on after the rotor upgrade.
Anyway, thanks all for inspiration!
