Paper element air filter for XKR- what do we like?
Didn't see a thread on this surprisingly. I may have still missed it.
I have a pending shopping cart atm with partsgeek.com. I like Mahle, Mann and Beck/Arnley paper element air filters. What do you guys recommend for a stock setup? Part number references?

Hi ho Chris,
I have used Fram air filters on both my 2000 XJ8 and 1998 XJR. They both take the same Fram filter purchased from rockauto.com, their Fram part number is #CA8720 and as of this date, at $9.21.
By comparison your preferred air filters:
Mahle #LX888 $6.08
Man #C31130 $12.48
Beck/Arnley #0421607 $17.92
There are nine air filters to choose from on Rock Auto’s website ranging from $5.88 to $24.89. I suspect, if you wanted to take the time, you could look up all of the nine brands on the internet and find out which ones have the most surface filtering area and smallest micron filtering holes.
I Checked as of this date, the Parts Geek website and all of the same filters mentioned above, were within just pennies higher with the Geek. It might boil down to differences in shipping to save some coin.

PartsGeek just has a great price on a replacement air hose that I need (the big one, $99, free shipping), so I figured I might as well get my filter from there if possible. I'm aware of eBay and other vendors. I no longer use the K&Ns- knew someone would recommend that, which is why I noted a paper element specifically. I hate the relubrication process, bottles to keep around, added expense just to claim a 'lifetime warranty', and the thought of excess goo getting sucked into my engine just to save a few bucks every year. Used to be a fan, but have since switched my entire fleet back to paper. No thanks.
So what paper element filters are you guys using?? I'm not a big Fram, WIX, etc. fan and think there are better products out there for these cars. I use Mann filters exclusively on my German cars.

I always used Mann filters when running a mixed fleet commercials and cars when I was in the U.K.. They used to be original equipment on Mercedes(under the Mercedes brand of course) - and indeed may well still be - I'm not sure. Either way, they are a top quality filter and I do remember reading somewhere that they were OEM on Jaguar - can't vouch for that one though. Mann built a big production facility in the Midlands, U.K. close to where my business was - we used to collect product from there for shipment to the car plants in Europe.
