If you are asking about a RH rear quarter window regulator, there are hundreds in salvage yards I am sure.
Maybe even eBay?

NLA (No Longer Available) is becoming an increasing issue with more and more Jaguar parts. I suspect JLR will use the pandemic global supply difficulties as an excuse/reason to permanently drop many unprofitable items from inventory. JLR current obsession is the move to electric and the support situation for earlier fossil fuel models will only get worse.

ebay is a good source of used spares and, as suggested above, a Google search often returns both listings on ebay and other useful leads.I usually get the relevant P/N's (Part Numbers) before doing a search.

Does anyone know where I can get the outer rear side window lower wipe? I have a 1998 XK8 convertible and the wipe/gasket is shot.

1st - Google it and look at "images"... You'll find it...

You'll have to dig through many many pages of parts and bits but I saw some on the "AUTORESERVE" website yesterday - a European parts seller... There search function leaves a lot to be desired BUT they have a lot of stuff as well. Maybe making one look through it all is a strategy? Maybe it's different on a PC then phone? Anywho...

The keyword being "unprofitable", I reckon.

The "NLA" issue with Jag parts goes wayyyy back. I can't think of any examples at the moment (first cup of coffee excuse) but I know the issue has been raised a number of times over the last 20+ years that I've been involved with Jags.

Consumer demand typically (and understandably) plays a large role in a decision to discontinue xxx-part. Every manufacturer must weight various factors in the decision. Seems to me that Jaguar pulls the trigger sooner than a lot of us would expect.

^^ I have been driving for more than 52 years. In my experience, Jaguar pulls the NLA parts trigger far sooner than any other manufacturer whose vehicles I have owned....

likely because Jaguar sells cars in the thousands, not tens or hundreds of thousands. The economy of scale matters. Especially when applied to keeping an assembly line open for rarely needed parts.

We are ones keeping the cars on the road beyond their expected lifespan. Up to us to forage for parts.

Not Jaguars problem anymore.

Limited runs IS a thing for parts manufacturing and machining.... Much of the machinery used in industry can be and is often tooled and retooled to make a variety of items...

IF you produce a product for the people of the world with smart and stylized marketing, a product that can be and IS used in some cases for decades, if the base cost of the original product IS in the 10s of thousands of dollars, paid off over years,,, and in the sale of that product you've received 10s or hundreds of millions of dollars, ummm
sure,,, that could easily be considered your "problem". Sure it is.
