Is LEAPER taken in your state?
Don't think X100 will land with 99.999% of folks. Guess that's why I'm not suggesting GROWLER either...
If you're a cat person, lots of choices there to play with...if you and/or significant other are dog people, might be conflict of interest :-).
Want to start conversation? How about the native American word for Jaguar? Starts with a Y, phonectly similar to Jaguar, literal translation: kills with a leap. ( dam, there's that "leaper" phrase again right?) **did a quick lookup: "YAGUARA". Actually the more I think about that one,the more I like it. Guess I'd go for interesting/subtle/conversational.
Is it a convertible? How about a play on that [CEILO...]
BTW, did you know the Jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas? Only Tigers and Lions are larger.

I think, if you were to go this route, anything with X100 would be cool. To people who don't care about cars, and to people who maybe own Jags but don't really care about them, it would just seem like a normal license plate. But it would be a subtle wink to people in the know, and a signal that you not only have a Jag but know a thing or two about it.
Sometimes I see people driving around up here with stuff like "JAAAAAAG" or "FASTCAT" or something like that, and I wonder if the owner actually cares about their car or just wants to flaunt that they have a Jag. But if I saw someone referencing the chassis code, I think I'd respect them immediately for knowing more than 99% of car owners know about their own car.
But at the end of the day, it's your car, and you should pick whatever makes you happy, even if it's "JAAAAAG" or "FASTCAT". Don't let snobs/idiots like me get in the way of you enjoying your car the way you want.

Phonetically Jaguar is spelled JAG WAR or JAHGWAR
My Jaguar XK8 is a black/black convertible.

Since you have an 05 it is technically an X104 so...
I suggest dropping the "20" off and use 05X104 that way it looks like a normal plate so you don't look pretentious, doesn't date your car for the uninformed, and is very specific for those who are informed and might appreciate it.

Love the plate Doug Dooren has on his MK2 (XJR heart):

Can you share with me a link(s) that discusses this identification with 2005?

See the attached document for details. Note that it was issued in 2005. Still the 2006 is also an X104 since they were all built in 2005.

I once tried to convince a coworker to go with JAG HAG but she was clearly too sophisticated to do it.

I think people here have illustrated a pretty good point, and one that I didn't have the common sense to talk about. A lot of this depends on who you want your audience to be. If you want to wave to the Jag nerds, the chassis code thing works. If you want to wave to (original) Top Gear fans, "JAAAAAAG" is probably the way to go. If you want everybody to be able to appreciate the tag, then maybe something like JimmyL and others have suggested would work best. It's all up to you.
Billy Clyde has one of the sweetest Jags around, and his license plate is pretty elegant, too: BCP. His initials. Something like that is worth considering as well.

I'm a dolt. I was thinking of P1000 (which would be funny--god knows I've seen that often enough)
