HELP--I feel so stupic
Reverend Sam and others:
Enjoyed your innovations. I am certainly not that smart--wish I were.
I need your counsel. I have a 2000 Jag XJ8 Base model. I want to get a GPS unit (I know I'm way behind the times) and I borrowed a friend's but it doesn't work in the cigar/cigarette lighter. Daggone if I can find another connection site. Any ideas? I sure would appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi I just did a similar upgrade using the Garmin 2597lmt, only I used the black plastic fascia that's off the original sat nav and mounted the garmin to the back of this. The advantage was its flat and the front accommodates the wood curve. I also removed the switches and the bulge below the on off switch so I could stretch some left over roof lining material from recovering the a posts, this I sandwiched against the wood so it adopted that convex curve in the switch panel. You can just see it in the pic. This garmin includes Bluetooth and has built in hands free and voice control, the only problem with the hands free is the mike is on the front and with speaker on the rear you get lots of feedback to who ever calls. Which is easier do you think move the mike or move the built in speaker?.
Thanks, Alan
Thanks, Alan
