Default PIE ALP/AI-AUX Audio Switcher availability or alternative

Hello everyone,

Greetings from the UAE!

I have a White Convertible XKR 02' and pictures should follow soon
After browsing all the threads and e-commerce sites regarding the PIE ALP/AI-AUX Audio Switcher module, i can't find any single piece.

Does anyone have a spare or used one for sale?

Alternatively, is there any other component that can substitute to it?

I have the Alpine radio unit (without Navi) and the Phone under the arm rest.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forum!

I recommend using this: AUX-JAGCD Auxiliary input Adapter for Select Jaguar with CD Auto Changer :: iPod Adapters & Interfaces or this iP-JAGCD iPod Adapter for Select Jaguar with CD Auto Changer :: iPod Adapters & Interfaces instead.

If for some reason you cannot get these, I do have one ALP AI-Aux new in box. I would prefer not to sell it, since it is the last of a discontinued item, but contact me if you really need it.

Many thanks WhiteXKR!

After hours on the web searching for the audio switcher, I finally decided to compromise on the CD player by plugging the following cable in the radio unit:

ALPINE CAR RADIO Ai-NET DIN CABLE TO RCA JACK KCA-121B | eBay

or (in case one of them is not working)

Alpine Ai-Net to 3.5MM iPod Aux Input Adapter KCA-121B | eBay

Through the Aux source, I will plug a bluetooth device for phone calls + music / internet radio streaming.

The cable should arrive in 10 days and I will let you know the result.

Thanks again!

I am afraid I do not think these will work. The AiNet has a digital channel that must be enabled in order to turn on the audio. With the CD player removed you will not be able to get the audio to turn on.

Noted. I will try my luck
As a back-up, would the below module be compatible with our Alpine headunit? I can't find the exact reference of our unit to check the compatibility:

Digital USB car cd/MP3 changer for Alpine AI NET Bluetooth adapter , free shipping-in Car CD Player from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com

Default results?

So, Xkrdxb,

Did your experiment bear fruit? Does the simpler device work, or are we doomed to the more expensive alternative?

I appreciate your willingness to give it the old college try . . .

Rostman, over on the XJ forum, bought one of these adaptors, and pulled it apart to see what magic was going on inside...

It's literally just a couple of wires spliced into the original ai-net cable.

If you're keen for a bit of DIY, you might find it easier just to splice into the original cable, rather than spending your money on an adaptor.

He hasn't confirmed exact details yet, but you need a cartridge in the cd stacker, but no CDs. The CD stacker takes care of the ai-net 'handshake', and the audio comes from your ipod (or whatever other source you've wired up)

Yes, this method was documented years ago in the XJ forum: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-r-last-11943/

I believe you do need to fill the cartridge with 'dummy' CDs for it to work.
If you are handy with a soldering iron it is a very viable alternative.

BTW, the PIE ALP AI-AUX adapter (the one that I mentioned is obsolete now) does have active electronics inside to perform switching.
