What makes the pump operate in both directions is the power feed to the pump. Is it possible for you to apply power to the pump with a fuse protected lead? When you look at the pump plug you will see a black and white lead to the pump. Unplug that plug first from the car feed. Attach the ground to the black and power to the white and see of the pump operates and if it does then reverse the ground to the white and the power to the black and see what takes place.

The pump will run in both directions you describe when sending power to them, obviously the hood will not start to move until you also power the correct relevant solenoid. However, if you send power to the black wire and ground to the white, while powering the main solenoid, the pump will power the hood in the up direction.

So we can at this point eliminate the pump and motor at this point. It also tells me that the rams and solenoid for the roof lift are good. For a moment I was thinking that one of the rams might be in a bind when the raised.
Has this car had water in the trunk?

I went back to reread the comment from Steve “If those are correct, lower the roof lights and disconnect the white connector that goes to the latch microswitches. With that disconnected, see if the hood will power up and down correctly with the switch. Forget the latch and claw at this point, all we want to know is will the hydraulics move the top both ways while the switches are disconnected.” Is that solenoid for the rams getting power? It obviously is on the opening but not sure on the close.

Apologies for the delay, for some reason I did not receive any notifications of your message.
Ok, so today I checked that the leads were attached correctly which they were and as far as I can tell the switches are working correctly, my reasoning for this is the following:
Top Switch- because if you manually put the hood up you are unable to raise the rear quarter windows on the button due to there being no pressure in the ram. However, if you send a 12v signal to the pump and the main solenoid, as I mentioned to put the hood up, you build pressure in the ram which triggers the switch and then allows you to put up the rear quarter windows.
Bottom Switch- The hood pump stops running as soon as the hood is seated correctly when going down when your finger is still held on the down button. This would indicate to me that the computer considers the hood to be down, thus the switch must be working.

I am having a problem with the momentary power to the pump and solenoid on close command. With the header switches out of the picture and the only switches in the system now are the lift and up/down switches I wanted to make sure they are working. I thought I would ask to be sure. I wonder if your up switch has a problem. I know we are doing a lot of checking but want to be sure before we start pulling things apart.

So, I am back to my initial way of thinking in that it could be the SLCM causing these issues.
They are extremely hard to find in the UK
I have a LJE2600BC
I have located a LJE2600BB from Germany, but that is from a coupe.
So a few questions really, does anyone know will a BB fit, I think I read on another thread that it should do?
How is it coded?
Also the main issue, a breaker in the uk tells me if you fit a coupe module to a convertible they will continuously say hood not latched on the display. Does anyone have any experience of this?

It has been a while.
However, very good news. I have got the issue resolved finally after all the testing etc I fitted another SLCM module out of a breaking coupe. Part number LJE2600BC and it works absolutely perfectly with no faults or warning messages.
So I thank you all for all your help and wish you all the very best with all your Jaguars in the future You're a top bunch who deserve much praise.
