Popping Noise coming from 2003 XK8 on the move
I have a 'popping noise' coming from my 2003 XK8. It sounds almost like an exhaust bracket is loose or something like a ball joint or gearbox mount but a quick Google points to a potential wheel bearing, upper shock mounts or sway bar bushings or loose upper cross member supports (the bar that goes from upper shock mount to firewall).
It could be described as a knock but it sounds almost like a popping noise.
Has anyone else had this problem?
It doesn't specifically happen when going over speed bumps or potholes, it happened the other when reversing into a relatively smooth driveway. I'm sure it's not coming from the engine as I left the engine idling for a long time today and the car definitely only makes this 'popping' noise when on the move - it's not effected by engine speed or changing gear or by steering. The front upper wishbone bushes, front subframe V mounts and front damper bushes have all been replaced in the last 2000 miles.
Any ideas on what this could be would be greatly appreciated. Do you think a good independent is the way forward or should I try a Jaguar specialist?
Many thanks in advance.

Ditto on Jon89's thought. I had a "popping" noise in my '05 XK8 that only happened when accelerating from a stopped position; turned out to be a failing rear wheel bearing. Have you tried jacking up each side of the car and checking for vertical play in the wheel(s)? Raise the hood and have a friend watch the top of the shock mounts; you'll know immediately if they are the problem. Other suspension issues should be noticeable if you have someone watching behind the wheel(s) as you lift each wheel. Could be anything already pointed out, but it could also possibly be worn out ball joints or a combination of things. Motor mounts should be inspected too, as they deteriorate over the years.
Horizontal play in the front wheels (off the ground) could indicate worn out tie rods, but they usually cause a "wallowing steering sensation," especially at higher speeds, long before they fail. Let us know when you find and cure the issue!
