Possible intermittent ECU problem?

Hi, I have a 1997 XK8 which has developed a throttle issue. The symptoms are that the car will suddenly drop to idle while driving and then return to a normal throttle position after a short period of time. My first thought were that it was a faulty throttle position sensor so I located one and changed it out. The results are the same-throttle drops to idle, then returns. I should note that during the weeks of diagnostics, I have had a variety of codes, from ABS failure to Restricted Performance show up and then disappear. I am beginninging to suspect that the problem is ECU related. Before I rip it out for a rebuild is there anything else that I should suspect?
Thanks, Robert

Robert, As I recall, the 1997-98 XK8's had throttle linkage and has to be adjusted occasionally, I remember my 98 Coupe started losing power and would not keep up with and old BUG.....I adjusted the linkage back to where it had been and WOW! off it went again.....don't know how that could have anything to do with the ECU....

Have your battery and alternator tested at a local auto parts store before you decide it's the ECU. Also clean the ground strap between the chassis and bell housing and the battery cables in the trunk. Do you have code reader so that you can check for stored codes? There may be information available.
