Power window malfunction
My 2006 XK8 convertible recently developed a problem with the driver side power window. When the door opens, the window is supposed to drop about 1/4" to clear the weather seal, then close back up when the door is closed. Recently it started dropping when the door opened, as required, then dropped again when the door was closed. Open the door again and it drops again, close the door and it drops further. Then when I get in, I have to manually close the window.
I tried recycling it all the was down and back up several times, but it seems determined to defy me. Up until now it has always functioned as designed, but I haven't driven the car in a few week.
Any suggestions???

Losing window settings is one of the first signs of a failing battery.
1. check the condition of your battery.
2. reset the travel limits. Raise the window and hold the switch for approximately 5 seconds until you hear a soft click. Lower the window and again hold the button until you hear a soft click.

Take it as a sign the battery is dying. You can replace it outright, or attempt a maintenance if it is a conventional acid-lead battery (pop the cap(s) and top the cells off with distilled water). A tender/recharge can help if the car is only used occasionally.
For the windows, you need to perform the "reset". Roll up the window and hold the Up button until you hear a faint click. Then roll the window down, hold the Down button until you hear another faint click. Repeat for the passenger window. This procedure re-informs the control module of the ranges, typically following a loss of power.
Best of luck.
